I had a local source here in Pittsburgh for about $55-60 each, but they have just raised the price dramatically because their supplier re-priced them. A southern Florida source would be great as I'm moving my track car down there for the next 3-4 months. Thanks in advance for any info! Date: Sat, 27 Dec 2003 21:22:34 -0800 (PST) From: Mark Siismets <msiismets@yahoo.com> Subject: Re: Michelin tires (was 7.5 inch rims) I've had my '95 M3 since January 1995 (new) and now have just under 100k on the odometer. My experience with the Michelin Pilot SX MXX3 tires on 7.5" rims has been excellent -- long life, no unusual wear patterns or other problems to speak of. The original set lasted 41k miles, the second set 48k miles, and I'm now on my third set, which I bought two years ago from Tire Rack (from limited stock they still had after the tires were discontinued). The tires are great in the dry, and I have no complaints in the wet either (and we get a fair amount of rain here in Houston). I would attribute the long wear to regular checks of the alignment, rotation every 5,000 miles, and maintaining proper tire pressures. I also drive fairly responsibly around town, and save the more aggressive (spirited) driving for the track with another set of tires. It definitely helps that the tires are non-unidirectional and all the same size, which allows one to cross rotate the tires (rears to the front and cross the fronts to the rear). I've done this with each set and certainly can't complain about the longevity of the tires. Mark __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Protect your identity with Yahoo! I think we can safely say you hold the World Record for mileage on Michelin Pilot SX MXX3 tires. 48,000 miles!?!?! My best mileage was 20,000 miles and they were completely without tread. I really should have replaced them at 15,000 miles. My hat is off to you. Date: Sun, 28 Dec 2003 11:04:40 -0500 From: HyperM3@aol.com Subject: Re: Headlight bulbs Hey all, I don't know if any of you recall my asking the list about what headlight bulbs to change to. I ended up going with the Nokyas at the time. Well, I can honestly say they are the most HID looking replacement bulbs I've ever seen. However, I kept trying to readjust the beam because i couldn't see so well. Apparently they are high on the kelvin scale for whiteness but not high on the scale for brightness. I found a pair of PIAA bulbs i must have gotten a long time ago and put them in. WOW what a difference. Sure its not 'hyperwhite' but i can see so much more of the road and further up on it. These PIAA bulbs are more white than yellow so they are better than stock, but far better than the Nokyas. The problem with the bulbs on the market is they all go for what scale kelvin they are for brightness, but none of them give Lumen scales for power of that brightness. Anyway, figured id share my findings. Alex "HyperM3" Demsky 97 S/C M3 ~ http://hometown.aol.com/hyperm3/Bimmer.html
