Finally go a set of real HID bulbs and couldn't be happier with them. See, in order to make the blue bulbs as bright as the regular bulbs they have to up the wattage to 80-100W which tend to run much hotter than stock bulbs and hence the short life of the filaments. In some extreme cases they can even melt the plastic headlight housing. Save yourself some money and incovinience and go with the real HID which is more reliable and 1000 time better lighting. I assure you that you will not reget it. Joe __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Protect your identity with Yahoo! Mail AddressGuard http://antispam.yahoo.com/whatsnewfree

#4. Headlight bulbs - from Dorffer, Rich

I plan to test them soon. I had heard similar comments so I bought a set for my wife's Accord when one of her headlights blew. I just installed the one bulb in order to compare the Silverstar with the stock bulb. The Silverstars are whiter (slight blue tint on lens) but the light output was about the same as her stock bulbs (maybe just a slight bit more but not much better). I was pleased until the Silverstar blew out in two weeks. Let's see, the stock bulbs lasted over three years, the replacement lasted two weeks... This is just one data point though so maybe it was just bad luck. Any other alternatives? Oh yeah, before anyone questions my installation, the bulbs were clean (no oil residue, etc. on the bulbs) and I installed them wearing latex gloves. later, Rich

#5. Radiator replacement options? - from Dorffer, Rich

Sure, it's black, but it's looks > like some sort of > black anodized aluminum. Much, much prettier than the factor > metal impeller > than came out of Dave Ngo's car.... Hmm...that isn't what I have seen. I had the old plastic brownish/white impeller on my '95 M3 originally and upgraded to the metal (welded SS, not cast) impeller a couple of years ago. In the past couple of years, I have seen the new water pump and it definitely had a composite type (black) impeller. Supposedly, BMW (or whoever manufactures the pump for them) has found a longer lasting plastic material... :-) It is my understanding though that certain OE aftermarket manufacturers (like Graf and Geba) may still have a metal impeller available that looks like black anodized aluminum but I wonder if this is really the black composite impellers that people are confused with since it does appear to be a metal, maybe not? I also recall someone mentioning that the Graf and Laso have crappy bearings/seals and the OE BMW part is a better part to go with? AFAIK though, the BMW sourced part is a composite. Regards, Rich

I have used to Snap-On ones (both the pretty potent and killer versions) and have heard about Harbor Freight ones. The Snap-On ones work great and hold a charge for plenty long. Anyone had one of the cheaper ones for a while and care to report on it? Old-lazy-cheap folks like me would like to know. If you don't want any significant ride penalties, then you may be better off to keep stock springs and add Koni SA shocks (with external rear adjustment option), and add swaybars if you haven't already. Of course definitions of "significant" will vary. You also don't mention how expansive your budget is - now that you've ordered that AA puffer kit... Neil 96 M3

The impeller looks plastic, but it really is metal. Bruce 95 330 CSi 89 M3 2.5
