#1. Re: Subject: Caliper rebuild kit part numbers needed - from Paul Smith

Date: Thu, 1 Jan 2004 20:45:10 -0500 From: Paul Smith <pauls@ontario.com> Subject: Re: Subject: Caliper rebuild kit part numbers needed If there are any issues, replace the entire caliper. I recently did this (it was much easier on the 69 vette). If I were to do it again, I would buy replacements and then build them on my time. If you do not have the right know how and tools, it can be tricky. I had one piston that did not want to come out or set correctly. All other 3 were pretty easy. If you know an older person (40+, my age) they will remember how to do it. While getting assistance in the shop (no air hose here), this guy showed a kid how he used to rebuild calipers in the old days. Enjoy! I think the front is 34-11-1-157-037, but I can't find the rear part number. Anyone have it? And is that the correct one for the front? Thanks, Happy New Year everyone, Vern

#6. track/autoX wheels - from RFKoby@aol.com

Date: Fri, 02 Jan 2004 08:32:54 -0500 From: RFKoby@aol.com Subject: track/autoX wheels last week, several had inquired about 17 x 8.5 track wheels. a few people stated that the TireRack discontinued the Kosie 17 x 8.5.... I checked my source at the TireRack, and for clarification, these were a special order size and are intended for track/autoX application because of the aggressive fitment. These wheels are NOT discontinued and there is a shipment on the water with expected delivery 1/2004. here are few other wheels also: SSR Comp 17 x 8.5 ET44, 18 lbs, $369 each SSR GT7 17 x 8.5 ET38, $383 each (new wheel, lots of brake clearance!!) Kosei K1, 17 x 8.5 ET40, 21 lbs, $199 each bob

#7. door will not open - from Michael, Dave
Top
Date: Fri, 2 Jan 2004 06:36:15 -0700 From: "Michael, Dave" <Dave_Michael@Maxtor.com> Subject: door will not open Gang, Yesterday, the drivers side rear door refused to open. I electrically unlocked it, manually unlocked and tried to open it from both the inside and out. Nothing. Not sure if its related , but over the past few years, the electric unlock has occasionally not worked, but that never had any affect whether or not the door would open. Its not frozen shut - too warm for that. It was a little un-nerving, since my 5 year old daughter was in her car-seat back there, and had to run around to the other side to let her out. Ideas? Thanks Dave 98 M3/4 02 MCS 90 A200QA

#8. FS: Toyo RA1s 255/40/17 - from Jason Knight

Date: Fri, 2 Jan 2004 08:24:16 -0800 (PST) From: Jason Knight <knight2244@yahoo.com> Subject: FS: Toyo RA1s 255/40/17 In a recent discussion regarding aftermarket wheels and corresponding tire fitment I read that 255/40/17 tires will fit on the M3 in some instances. With that in mind I thought I'd offer up some tires that the missus is selling and that are taking up some valuable space that could be occupied by errant race car pieces. Selling price is $400, but I think the wife can be talked down a little. They are located in Santa Barbara. Would prefer not to ship. We will be heading to Buttonwillow and Willow Springs fairly regularly until March, and could go out of our way some to deliver. Condition according to the wife: Two are very used (three weekends) and two are minimally used (one weekend). http://www.z28racergirl.com/images/ra1s.jpg And if anyone wants to put the tires on their 'Vette, we also have some straight but unattractive C4 wheels that are going for cheap: http://www.z28racergirl.com/images/c4wheels.jpg Jason
