See my previous post below.. <<<I live in Washington, where it rains 283 days a year (well.. almost). At our last instructor clinic, in February (2003), in a downpour (2" of standing water on the straight), those who had SO3's didn't even notice the rain. Those of us (me included) running full thread 032R's, were lucky to stay on the track. Some of us didn't (thankfully, I survived). I was awestruck at how well SO3's did in the rain.>>> Jamie Thomas 97' M3/4 Seattle, WA <--we see a lot of water here..and now.. Most 16" wheels will not clear the calipers on the front brakes. The only way to be sure its to try it (or buy a proven fitment from the Tirerack or elsewhere), but I'm 95% certain that factory steel wheels won't work. A set of factory 17" wheels, particularly from '95 M3s, can often be found at a reasonable price, and fit all E36 M3's (at least those with stock brakes). #3. Thanks: Control Arm Bushings Installed! - from KLchmn@aol.com
Top
Date: Sat, 10 Jan 2004 18:47:01 EST From: KLchmn@aol.com Subject: Thanks: Control Arm Bushings Installed! Well, I got my new control arms and bushings installed today. I went with Bimmerworld's delrin bushings since my car is a track only car. I replaced both control arms even though only one showed some minor play in the outer ball joint. I was glad that I replaced both as the other was certainly not too far away from being done. The ball joints were all wobbly and loose compared to the new ones. Should be a nice change. It appears that the offset bushings added a bit of toe out in the front in addition to the added caster. Since I was going to put some more toe out into the front anyway, this was an added bonus! Thanks for all the responses on which way the offset hole went, etc. I appreciate the help of the list. It makes things easier when the confidence level is high. #6. Upper strut mount to shock shaft torque spec? - from Fernando Mujica
Top
Date: Sat, 10 Jan 2004 22:17:26 -0600 From: Fernando Mujica <fmujica@mac.com> Subject: Upper strut mount to shock shaft torque spec? This is for Koni's single adjustable on GC c/o and hybrid CCP. The shock nut is 22 mm and the shaft end is a 11 mm "nut." Bentley calls for 32 ft/lb for shaft with "internal hexagon," and 48 ft/lb for "shaft with external hexagon." I guess my Koni's have "external hexagon" but the nut looks very wimpy. Any idea what the correct torque spec is? Thanks, Fernando

A while back, someone mentioned a place to send your injectors to for reverse flow, cleaning, flow benching, etc. Was it Rich Doffer? Neil Maller? NickG? At close to 80k miles, I'm thinking that having the injectors cleaned might be a worthwhile project. Can you repost the link? Thanks, Chester =====
