Honestly, I have used the Ground Control on every car we have ever built. We have dealt with other plates on customer's cars at the track and not a one has been close to as easy to use. I don't think it is worth the price difference to go with something that is not a proven part and ethically I am not wild about buying a straight copy... >Other offerings besides what you list are from Ground >Control and I think a new company called Motor Force >is making plates for our cars now. #2. E36 M3 LTW Values? - from Rex Tener

Date: Mon, 26 Jan 2004 15:20:37 -0800 From: Rex Tener <rex_tener@yahoo.com> Subject: E36 M3 LTW Values? I use to think M3 LTW's with low mileage (under 30K miles), stock or nearly stock cars, with all the LTW goodies (X-brace, strut brace, front splitter, factory wing, GT Wing with spacers, oilpan, and oil pump) were going for $35K to $36K. However, it now seems like there are about half dozen of these cars with the same or higher mileage with or with out all the LTW goodies at that price, but they are sitting for months/years unsold. My neighbor bought a 90K mile M3 LTW with some of the LTW goodies more than a year ago for $22K. So, high mileage explains that price, but are these $35K cars really $25K to $28K cars? Anyone have a strong opinion of where M3 LTW values are right now? Thanks, -- Rex Tener rex_tener@yahoo.com

I think the hybrid ones are the same race CCPs with a rubber interface between the CCP and the spring perch. It uses a spherical bearing. Adjustment will depend on your particular struts. I think we the stock struts you can get close to -4. I have a modified strut housing and can get to -3.2. Mine after just one DE and three auto-x were making tons of noise (like a clunk). Good thing the GC guys are very good with support. They sent me a redesigned slider with spherical bearing part and new lower bushings (that were missing). The clunk is gone. Time will tell. For OBD1 cars you can adjust the OBC a little bit, but it's still not enough to compensate for 24lbs injectors, let alone the ones that'll come with a supercharger kit. So the short answer here is, no. Regarding the rear dust cover. I modified the stock one, basically cut it up so that it will get supported by the ring around the RSM. I have done one DE and a couple of auto-x this way and they stayed put. Fernando On Monday, January 26, 2004, at 04:10 PM, E36M3 wrote: > Date: Mon, 26 Jan 2004 13:46:15 -0800 > From: "Andrew E. To all who replied -- thanks for the feedback. I briefly tried to put the stock rear bump stops and dust covers on the Koni's, and it didn't want to go -- I probably need to open up the holes a little bit as per Chester's and Neil's suggestions, and then they'll work fine. And if the fronts are dimensionally the same as stock, then that's a non-issue. I was bummed to see that the Koni rears are noticeably heavier than the stock shocks. I haven't inspected the stock fronts yet -- at 16,000 miles (over 6,000 track miles), the rears were OK on compression (but weaker than the Koni's at full soft), and were noticeably weak on rebound. I presume a lack of rear rebound is what's causing problems in braking zones. -- ______________________________________ Andrew E. Kalman, Ph.D. aek@pumpkininc.com
