Your 97 should already have strut tower (i.e. front) reinforcing plates, which BMW introduced with the 96 model year. If you meant the shock towers (rear), then you should use the Z3 top plates or aftermarket (e.g. Turner) equivalents. If these aren't what you meant, maybe you could post a link? > I don't want to do it unless there is a high > probability that I will need to. Stiffer springs/shocks impose higher loads on the chassis mounting areas. Since the front and rear plates combined wouldn't even cost $20, and you already have the fronts anyway, and they all just bolt on, I can't imagine a good reason not to use them. > How likely is the additional HP from the supercharger, > age/mileage of the car, or stress from the track to > cause a strut tower failure? 23.48763% more likelihood. > Your input is appreciated. My 95 > M3 turbo says 62.4 miles per galon, yet I barely > get 200 miles a full tank. Thanks ! That is all well and good and a very nice write-up, but that is only good if your OBC MPG is only off approximately 25% from standard ((1,250 - 1,000)/1,000) since the maximum correction factor is 1,250. So, going from 21.5# from 17.5# would be 23.5% while going to 24# from 17.5# is 37% so you are unable to completely correct. So, you will be out of luck in your application Rey. Has anyone here used the E36 M3 3.2 fuel injectors (21.5#) with the Schrick US M50 cams? Are the injectors adequate for ~300 hp? I know that Eurosport supplies 24# injectors but I believe the 21.5# injectors would also be adequate but I no longer remember the capacities for the injectors based on horsepower. IIRC, the 17.5# injectors worked up to their limit somewhere in the range of 270hp. If that is the case, I would think the 21.5# injectors are good for approximately 340hp. Why does Eurosport supply 24# injectors? Overkill? Availability? Both? Anyone? Regards, Rich

#7. Ellipsoid lights - from Gcfuller@aol.com
Top
Date: Wed, 28 Jan 2004 18:07:58 -0500 From: Gcfuller@aol.com Subject: Ellipsoid lights Jeffrey- One of the better upgrades - and you can now find them cheaper - with angel eyes - than I paid for my used set w/o angel eyes (added them later). The light pattern difference is the best part. Old lights have a pencil beam pattern - the new one put out a much better field with a very distinctive cut-off as to not blind other drivers. But yet, the cut off goes up at a 45 degree angle on the right to light up the signs. Very neat and MUCH better lighting. The glass covers are way better than plastic, and are replaceable. The bulbs are H1 and can be gotten in almost any wattage. The construction is much better than the stock lights. Xenon coversion is even better, but still way worth it with halogen (what I am still running). Go to ebay and buy a set there with pre-installed angel eyes and a wiring harness. You'll love them. Under $300 if I remember, and that has come way down. Mine were $400 used... Good luck- Greg 98m3/4 St. Louis Tue, 27 Jan 2004 23:43:33 +0100 From: "Go, Jeffrey" <jeffrey.go@sap.com> Subject: Ellipsoid lights Hi Gruppe, Again, I am throwing this out: I am *this close* to upgrading my stock lights to ellipsoids. I would like to know the ff: 1). How BETTER are they than stock? Longevity? Reliability? Do I need to upgrade fuses?etc... 2). Where can I find them affordable?? Thanks

#9. 21# Injectors for sale? - from Jake McClean
Top
Date: Wed, 28 Jan 2004 16:33:02 -0800 (PST) From: Jake McClean <sin@mail.value.net> Subject: 21# Injectors for sale? Hey all, I was wondering if any of you 96+ folks who've upgraded to 24# injectors might have a set of stock 21# injectors around that you'd like to sell? I'm starting to see a bit of pinging from my 95 (cold air intake, euro MAF, JimC chip, catback exhaust) and I think a move up to the 21# injectors should give me just that extra bit of fuel that the motor seems to be hungry for. Yes, I know I need a new chip to go along with the injectors. *grumble* I don't do track days or sustained high-speed driving with the M3 (that's what motorcycles are for, silly!) so the 24# injectors seem to be a bit of overkill. So, how about it, anyone wanna sell me their old 21# injectors? Like, cheap? :) Jake 95 M3

#10. curious pricing about a 94 332is - from Reynaldo K Tong

Date: Wed, 28 Jan 2004 17:50:47 -0800 (PST) From: Reynaldo K Tong <chinesebmw@yahoo.com> Subject: curious pricing about a 94 332is Hi all, I don't know if this is appropriate to ask but I respect alot of members on this digest than any other forums combined. I just sold my 94 325is and see if what would any of you out there would ask for... 1994 325is, white ext / tan int, 106k on chasis, clean title, power everything, Pioneed CD player. Now the mods are a 99 M3 engine, tranny, drive shaft, 323lsd, f&r subframes, M3 brakes f&r, M double spokes 2 (spare also). All these parts has now 30,000 miles on it. AA Cold air intake, 21.7lbs inj, AA chip, and the car made 222hp & 224tq@wheels on a Mustang or 233hp & 232hp@wheels on Dynojet. Mustang dyno was AA's and Dynojet was at South Florida Performance. All records, blah blah blah, I also threw in a set of locks & keys, new alarm system & a M3 body kit. If you are wondering, i let the car go for $8,500 Would you have asked for more if you were to sell this car?
