No, I usually cruise at around 80mph, so 3500 vs 3750 isn't a big deal... I think I'm going to be making regular donations to the police once I move to Colorado this summer tho. They drive s l o w out there... -josh --- LoweSeaton@aol.com wrote: > Date: Tue, 24 Feb 2004 11:33:00 -0500 > From: LoweSeaton@aol.com > Subject: Re: Question about E-36 M3 CSL ring and > pinion set > > Josh, > > You must have higher speed limits than we have in > Texas. :-) 3,500 rpm is about 80 mph in a stock > M3. > > Lowell Seaton > '95 M3 - has seen 7,200 rpm with oversized tires and > 3.15 diff (you do the math) out is West Texas > > ===== __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Hello Digesters, A quick poll to see if anyone living in the tri-state area has used Autosport Performance in Englewood, NJ? I've just moved to the area and they sound like a decent shop. I plan to visit them soon but if you have any experience with them, please let me know! Feel free to e-mail privately. Thanks... -Roy '99 M3 (new resident in the Garden State...) _________________________________________________________________ Watch high-quality video with fast playback at MSN Video. I do know that it was one of the better shops around, but the lead mechanic, Don Fields, left sometime last year or so. Not sure how it is right now. Date: Tue, 24 Feb 2004 12:29:26 -0800 From: Jim <rx3sp@lanset.com> Subject: quick info for a couple of you: My experience with rotor runout: You should easily be able to get 0.003max at the periphery, the biggest source of error is the interface between the stock rusty hub face and the shiny new rotor hat. Average street runout is maybe 0.005-6, and it becomes objectionable somewhere around 0.010 with a sliding caliper. Fixed caliper (AP) probably gets objectionable at 0.004-5. Common source of power steering leaks is the tiny o-rings on the tiny hardlines (look like brakelines) that go to and fro. They are available from places other than the dealer. -- Jay Morris

Kirk, I'm not sure which hose you mean, but try looking at Diagrams 13_0381 MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR there are a couple of J shaped hoses on that page. #8. [E36M3] LSD test - from Roger Graves

Date: Tue, 24 Feb 2004 18:14:37 -0500 From: Roger Graves <RogRacer@earthlink.net> Subject: [E36M3] LSD test The idea of testing the slip-torque of your LSD with a torque wrench is a good one. In fact...the shop manual for my Miata gives the torque spec for just such a test. I've often wished the Bentley manual defined such a test for the M3. Lacking that, perhaps we could define a test, and see what range of values we get from list members.... Just a thought. Roger '95 M3...LSD is pretty good shape...or maybe not.
