Been very happy, since it shifts smoother than with the RedLine D4 ATF I had been using. I know others who prefer RedLine though. I still use RedLine in the Diff and PowerSteering. #2. Secondary/VANOS timing chain tensioner - from Jon Cepale

Date: Wed, 25 Feb 2004 11:09:43 -0800 (PST) From: Jon Cepale <jcepale@yahoo.com> Subject: Secondary/VANOS timing chain tensioner When I recently had my car into the shop, they said they felt a vibration in the timing chain cover that they figured was the secondary timing chain slapping the cover. They suggested I have the tensioner replaced. Well, I'm not too excited about dropping the estimated $1,200 for the job based on a educated guess. My car ('95 M3) has 110,000 miles, so I figure changning the primary chain tensioner is a well worth the money to prevent a possible catastophic timing chain slip. If that doesn't fix it. If there actually is something wrong with my secondary timing chain tensioner, am I risking the same type of damage (e.g. bent valves) if that chain should slip?
