There are several solutions to the clutch pedal issue. I used UUC's replacement bushings and was extreamly pleased with the results, but there are a couple of other companies that sell replacements too. Or, you can replace the whole thing with Ron Stygar clutch pedal assembly. I have always run 8qts of Mobil1 with great results, including 6-10 autocrosses a year. But even then I'll get a little ticking after a hard run for a couple of minutes. Although with it being a new car to you and based on it's age. I would change ALL fluids on the car; engine oil, trans, diff, brake, clutch, antifreeze and power steering. I never take the dealerships word or visual inspection for something like that. For me it's "Standard Operating Procedure". I've never had the "check brake light circuit" issue, but it seems pretty common. I think the problem is usually aftermarket enclosures or cheap/bad bulbs. YMMV. The only other suggestion I would have for autocrossing a M3 is get a good set of tires if you don't already and purchase a Schroth removable 4-point harness. Probably the best investment for autocrossing I ever made. Although we'll see how the S-03's perform this year ;) Jeff Date: Thu, 26 Feb 2004 07:58:52 -0700 From: "Graeme Weston-Lewis" <gweston@lsil.com> Subject: RE: [E36M3] Re: Subject: Hello chaps and chappettes There's supposed to be an underpanel? Where? I guess I'll be crawling under some other M3's at the RMC autocross this weekend :) The clutch pedal creaks and has significant lateral movement and the "check brake light circuit" has come on a couple of times. So I have at least 4 of the common problems. The good news it that the engine is silent. No classic M3 tick, tick, tick on idle. I added an extra 1/4 quart of oil in preparation for Saturday's autocross. I have been autocrossing for a few years now, but have never run an M3. Anything else I should do? TIA, Graeme

Yep, go out and kick some butt and have fun. :-) Oh, you were probably looking for a more technical response. Well, I will leave that the autocross junkies. Welcome to the E36 M3 fold. You have a nice looking car there (always liked silver E36 M3 and have a picture of one in my garage). Later, Rich

Date: Thu, 26 Feb 2004 12:20:06 -0500 From: "geoff atkinson" <pskalc@hotmail.com> Subject: Steering Wheel change/ airbag removal Hi everyone, I've been searching and searching for a post or tech article on changing the steering wheel and can't come up with anything. I've got to fix the up and down play in my steering wheel on my '95 tonight... and while I'm there, I might as well install the momo adapter and wheel. But here are my questions: Any idea where that play is coming from?... column to support bolts under dash? But most importantly, is there a procedure for installing a momo wheel, and having the airbag light turn off? In my Porsche I'll be putting a jumper in the system and it goes off. Anything similar here? The light is already staying on for a couple of minutes after I start the car, so... Anything else I should look out for? Thanks so much for any help. -Geoff Atkinson _________________________________________________________________ Get fast, reliable access with MSN 9 Dial-up. Date: Thu, 26 Feb 2004 18:13:42 +0000 From: ajvdh1@comcast.net Subject: Re: [E36M3] 95 M3 Rear Speakers and DA Koni Shocks I run Koni D/A's and the stock speaker boxes on my 95. I have holes cut in my trunk liner to get at the top adjustment, but I don't use the knob to adjust them. Instead, I took a shelf brace I had lying around, and cut it so I was left with a piece of steel about 3/4" x 4". I cut a 45 degree slot into one corner. The slot's just the size of the little aduster thingy. A little Koni sticker with an arrow drawn on it to remind me which way is "firm", and I'm done. Here's a crummy, not to scale ascii drawing _______________________________________________________ | | | | | _ | | / / | |/ /____________________________________________________| - Alain PS: Those of you with CD changers who track/autocross your cars would do well to inspect the spot welds where the mounting tab is attached to the trunk. Mine broke at an open track event, and the only thing that kept the CD changer from flying around was the tension from the wiring harness and the cheezy sheet metal screw on the bracket extension that's just there to damp vibration. It made a hell of a racket as it bounced off the inside of the trunk lid. -- "1 2 3 4!" - Johnny "Gabba gabba hey!" - Joey > Date: Wed, 25 Feb 2004 22:38:34 -0600 > From: "Bob Dorchester" <rjdorche@concentric.net> > Subject: 95 M3 Rear Speakers and DA Koni Shocks > > What is the best solution to retain rear speakers in a 95 M3 with DA Koni > shocks? #10. Lubro Moly Ventil Sauber/Jectron - from Newman, Christopher
Top
Date: Thu, 26 Feb 2004 14:04:24 -0500 From: "Newman, Christopher" <CNewman@LSAC.org> Subject: Lubro Moly Ventil Sauber/Jectron Looking through the archives, I found a few comments on Techron and BG44K, but nothing on Lubro Moly Ventil Sauber (which apparently controls carbon build-up on the valves and helps clean the fuel system) or Lubro Moly Jectron (which apparently cleans the injection system as well as improves drivability, starting, and idling). Has anyone tried either of these products ? One archived comment regarding Techron was that people started experiencing knock. On one hand, I would like to keep my engine at its best, and perhaps these products would help. On the other hand, my engine already runs great. Is trying these products worth the risk ? In the hope of making things better, I don't want to make things worse. Any thoughts ? Thanks.
