Correct. They use the "1/2 panel" of the non-M E36s (My 325is has the same panel). >underpanel that surprisingly fits (or has been fitted) >just fine Yep, the "pork chop" corner pieces appear to be the same as on the M3 coupe, so the full panel should fit just fine. I'm planning on putting in a JTD panel on the race car (once I'm employed) to help protect the front engine vitals. Cheers, Jim Bassett 1998 M3/4 1993 325is #44 JP/A5

Has anyone tried either of these products ? One archived comment regarding Techron was that people started experiencing knock. On one hand, I would like to keep my engine at its best, and perhaps these products would help. On the other hand, my engine already runs great. Is trying these products worth the risk ? In the hope of making things better, I don't want to make things worse. Any thoughts ? Then I hacksawed off the knob. Now, when I need to adjust rebound settings, I just use the small piece of the shaft and a wrench. Rebound isn't something you adjust every day when you have DAs (compression might be though), so this isn't that bad of a solution for me. In looking at the JLaudio webpage, it sure looks like it would be pretty difficult to pull the carpetting around the rear shock towers out with the stealthboxes installed. Is this in fact possible? I had thought about putting in stealthboxes, but not if it made it far more of a PITA to inspect / change the RSM's. Thanks, Andrej

While I'd love to have DA Konis, if you have the SA's you owe it to yourself to get some GC upside down plates. You can get the rear shock off the car and start adjusting it in all of 10 minutes. Also as they are similar in shape, I would guess that the GC plates would have similar reinforcement ability compared to the Z3 plates. scott yu --- Andrej Dolenc <adolenc@erols.com> wrote: > > I've wondered about this myself. I have yet to verify the threaded dia. Of the strut retaining nut, but, I am now leaning toward Neil's claim of 14mm and if so the Koni instructions are 80Nm or 59 ft-lbs for conventional nut/split-lock-washer on external hex shaft or nylock nut; or 125Nm or 92 ft lbs on conventional shaft. Either way I think we should be at 59 ft-lbs, not the 37ft-lbs claimed earlier. KLBurgess - with Koni instructions in desk

#10. E36 M3 Tie rod adjustment - from Colin_S_Whelan@rrfc.raytheon.com

Date: Fri, 27 Feb 2004 07:48:35 -0500 From: Colin_S_Whelan@rrfc.raytheon.com Subject: E36 M3 Tie rod adjustment Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone knew: 1) How much a turn of the tie-rod increases the toe-in on the front of an E36 ('98 M3) 2) By how much will the addition of another degree of negative camber (in the front end) affect the toe I plan to shim the lower mounts on my front struts ('98 E36 M3) to increase the camber from -1.1 to -2.1 degrees this weekend. I bought a SmartCamber gauge and also a toe-guage. After adding the additional degree, I plan to re-adjust the tie-rods equally to get about 1/16" total toe-in (which is what I presently have). Thanks! Colin '98 M3 (Dinan suspension, Conforti intake + software...)
