#1. Strange Instrument Cluster Behavior - from Shane Kleinpeter

Date: Mon, 1 Mar 2004 09:53:13 -0800 (PST) From: Shane Kleinpeter <sak335@yahoo.com> Subject: Strange Instrument Cluster Behavior So I finally got the M3 back up and running this week after some down time and a new problem has immediately popped up. Driving into work this morning the ABS and ASC lights starting lighting in unison anytime I hit the brakes. Letting off the brakes, they would go out, but after a while they would flicker on and off. Eventually, the airbag light lit, but would turn off when the car was moving. Then it decided to stay on. If I hit the ASC defeat button, the ASC light stays lit but the ABS light continues to flicker. There is also a screeching sound that comes in at about 3k rpm, but it goes away after a while. Not sure if this is related or not, but is RPM dependent. If anybody has had any similar experience I'd be interested in hearing it. Otherwise, guesses or speculation are welcome as well. It's a '96 with about 76k on the clock. I suppose I'll check the ABS sensors when I get home, and maybe swap them out with the ones from the race car. Incidentally, I hit a patch of ice this morning and ASC worked fine, just as it was supposed to. Shane K. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Get better spam protection with Yahoo! It was apparently dipping below the operational threshold for many of the electronics and they were "clipping". It went from bad to dead in less than two days - have it checked before you get stranded. -----Original Message----- From: Shane Kleinpeter [mailto:sak335@yahoo.com] Sent: Monday, March 01, 2004 1:04 PM To: E36M3 Subject: [E36M3] Strange Instrument Cluster Behavior Date: Mon, 1 Mar 2004 09:53:13 -0800 (PST) From: Shane Kleinpeter <sak335@yahoo.com> Subject: Strange Instrument Cluster Behavior So I finally got the M3 back up and running this week after some down time and a new problem has immediately popped up. They've sort of got a reputation of being cranky when cold - my '97 certainly was when it lived in MA. I heard someone before saying that the initial high revs that eventually settle down are par for the course. However, I've not experienced a near-stall when puhsing on the pedal, when my engine was started cold I'd get the high revs, then I'd blip the gas a bit and it would calm down to the normal 700. Now that I've gotten that out of the way: IMOLA RED E36 M3? whoa... I'm selling this car to raise funds for an upcoming house purchase. Please call/email with any questions. This is a very, very nice example at a fair price. Car is located near Westminster, MD (Baltimore). The car can be bought with one of 2 suspensions or both. The car currently has a Koni Double Adjustable strut/H&R sport spring suspension on it. The car will also come with the complete original LTW suspension (specific LTW springs, boge struts & sways - front struts still complete). The car also has a new water pump, idler pulley, adjusting pulley, thermostat, thermostat housing, belts and plugs. An alignment was also recently done. Other than what is listed, this is a clean, stock LTW with complete records from the original owner on. All VIN stickers match and all paint, etc. is original. The car is 'tight' and runs great. Needs nothing. Many photos available, if interested. If you'd like to see specific shots, let me know and I will get them to you. Asking $29K or B/O.

I don't know about the plastic tips. However because Bosch injectors are virtually the industry standard, and are used in many domestic cars, the O-rings and mounting clips are readily available, probably at any major auto parts store. #10. Aftermarket Seats - from Lew Becker

Date: Mon, 1 Mar 2004 18:25:47 -0800 From: "Lew Becker" <lmbeckercfls@earthlink.net> Subject: Aftermarket Seats I'm thinking about putting aftermarket front seats in my M3/2 (and upholstering the rear to match). I'm not looking for racing shells; rather better bolstered thank stock, fully adjustable (including lumbar), cloth seats. Any one have any recommendations; good or bad experiences; etc.? How about someplace in the SF Bay Area that I can actually sit in some? Thanks. Lew Becker
