FWIW, I agree with Steve on this one. I ran last year's One Lap with R4 pads and am planning to do so again this year (although this time with Big Reds in front). There just isn't time -- or energy -- to change out pads before each event and I found the R4 to be a terrific compromise. I drive the R4 porterfields on the street and track. I drive the car in the summer only. The R4 pads could put you through the windshield with little effort in normal street driving as well as the track. They do make tons of noise but are rotor friendly! I am still on the same set of rotors from past seasons too, plenty of meat left! I don't find them to dust anymore than the stock pads did, probably less. At Road Atlanta (not too easy on brakes) I can still brake pretty strong (driving deep before braking). At one time I took one of my students out for a 20 mins session and then back out again in the Instructors group (hence almost 40 mins back to back) and the brakes were still consistent and did not fade. Yes they dust and they sequel but not as much as Hawk Blues or the PF97s and they DO NOT corrode my wheels either. For under $150 a set (front and rear) I think it's a bargain if you are doing 'driving schools only' and need a street/track pad. Ahmad

Lasted one week! The centered bushing is pure junk. I went to delrin on the M3 and urethane from bmwbushings.com for my 328. The powerflex rear toe bushings have been good for me though. They work great. The front control arm bushings are easy to replace if you have access to a press. I spend $10 at the local auto parts shop to have the stock ones pressed out. But the "lollipop" part comes of reasonably easy with a small puller. Seems like the factory glued on this part with just enough sticktion I needed a small puller. YMMV. I replaced it with the powerflex one that pops in with a vice. Course I think it's already starting to crack.. Chris 97 M3/4 ======================

I wrote up a procedure for doing a steering wheel swap in Jan '02. Using the 3.3 ohm resistor does work to simulate the contact ring or airbag ignitor or both, as far as the SRS system goes. http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum//showthread.php?s=&threadid=139336/showthread.php It would seem as though you could do the same for a seatbelt assy. But, I'm sure I don't have to tell you that the resistance required may be different. With the airbag, you can't just go in there with an ohmmeter and check it. You may be wearing the airbag! But, with a latch assy, you probably could. Good luck and let us know if you come up with a simulator. I currently have the SRS light too. I haven't had the time to diagnose what's causing it yet. This year, we will be visiting these fine facilities with our "Season in a Week" format: April 18 (Sunday) Las Vegas Motor Speedway April 19 (Monday) Willow Springs Int'l Raceway April 20 (Tuesday) Thunderhill April 21 (Wednesday) Sears Point/Infineon April 22 (Thursday) Buttonwillow Raceway Park Have you ever wanted to be a part of a Formula One, World Challenge, or Le Mans team? Do you think you have what it takes to be competitive with some of the best drivers in North America over a week of non-stop motorsports decision-making and racing? Open Track Challenge (OTC) will put you to the test as we compress an entire season of racing and team strategy into one week. The OTC Grand Prix (OTC GP), our newly-added wheel-to-wheel division was designed to accomplish two things: 1. Provide a simulated racing season for the top club racers on the cusp of turning pro (a development program for the "Stars of Tomorrow", if you will.) 2. Incorporate the best practices of all the major motorsports programs around the world and put it in one endurance event. The format for the The OTC GP calls for one practice, one qualifying session, and one race each day. The first four races will be 30-minute sprint races from a rolling start. The last day's race will be a 50-minute race from a standing start. To compete in The OTC GP: 1. You must have a Competition License from a major sanctioning body (FIA, SCCA, IMSA, NASA, BMWCCA, PCA, etc.) 2. Your car must have a full roll cage as well as meet our other safety items. You must submit a driving resume to the Organizers evidencing a safe competition history. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OTC's Touring Challenge was designed to be the ultimate test of production vehicle competition. There are a number of magazine tests out there but they all sell the process short through some component of subjective criteria. Other motorsports venues that try to do the same, but lack the duration, environment, and sheer track time to fully distinguish a winner. Using our format, OTC Touring Challenge has become the benchmark in street car competition. To compete in the Touring Challenge: 1. You must drive the car from track to track. 2. All track competition is on street tires with a treadwear rating of 140 or higher. 3. 3 sets of tires allowed for the week. Each car will be given roughly two hours of track time at each venue to lay down its three best laps. Those three laps are then added together and your cumulative time is your score for that day. As soon as you have three laps that you are happy with, you are free to begin traveling to the next venue. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OTC's Unlimited Challenge was designed to be the ultimate test of the weekend track day participant.
