It's hard to say whether it'll help with your specific problem, but I can tell you that the dealer diagnostic system gives MUCH more detail, so there's a pretty good chance. > Plugs were uniform and normal, coils are fine, passing resistance > checks and case inspection. Of course, minimizing contact with the adhesive is the best way to go. Squeegee as much water out as you can with the plastic applicator, but don't worry if there's still some haze. It'll evaporate over time. For me, at idle it's smooth, but I can feel that it's just off by a bit. If I rev it to 1.5k - 2.5k rpm and hold the throttle steady, I can really feel it. When I'm driving I can still feel it, but it feels more like lost power since accelerating the mass of the car is dampening the rumble. The same goes for higher rpm when I'm on the freeway and accelerating. I can feel that it's not smooth like I remember and while still pulling strong, it feels a little wheezy. I need to take Bob's advice and get the Peake code reader anyway. I was just curious if the dealer scanner was more in-depth than the Peake tool (which is certainly more in-depth than my tapping the accelerator pedal). Cheers, Steve By the by, I have a Lt. Wt. flywheel, and 'tho the problem existed before it was installed, I'm sure the lost mass is making the symptoms more evident. #4. Brake circuit failure warning solved - from John Hoffner

Date: Mon, 08 Mar 2004 12:17:20 -0800 From: John Hoffner <jhoffner@gcfinc.com> Subject: Brake circuit failure warning solved Thank you to everyone that responded to my request for information on trouble shooting this problem. I believe the problem has been identified but the warning has stopped without any repair being performed. I understand a normal progression in the failure of this switch is for the warning light to come on sporadically for some time until the switch eventually stops working permanently. I'll wait to replace the switch until the warning comes on enough to annoy me . Thanks again to everyone that responded for your help.

On my E34, I went from PBR Deluxe to HPS, and noticed an improvement. The PBR Deluxe pads started out well, but the braking feel degraded as they wore. I replaced them with over 50% of the pad left, because I didn't like how they felt. -rb Ron Buchalski BMWCCA #76387 1995 E36 M3 1993 E34 525iT 1999 Mazda Miata `998 Hyundai Elantra _________________________________________________________________ Fast. Date: Mon, 8 Mar 2004 13:56:06 -0800 From: "Murray Roblin" <murray@farleyroblin.com> Subject: RE: [E36M3] Brake circuit failure warning solved I changed mine this weekend. Removing the old switch is a pain. Others have recommended and what worked for me is to destroy the old switch by cutting the switch plunger off. The switch has a plunger which is surrounded by a sleeve. The sleeve prevents the retention tabs from retracting. The difficulty is pushing in the retention tabs while pressing the brake pedal and holding out the sleeve. I cut through but mangled the plastic plunger and sleeve. I suspect that if you cut the head off of the plunger, the sleeve would pull off and then the retention tabs can be released. I cut it through the sleeve and the plunger, but was unable to get the sleeve up far enough to release the tabs. I then took a dremel to the sides of the switch and cut through the tabs, which then allowed it to be released. Note that twisting on the switch will result in bending of its support.
