I have the Conforti software in my '96 M3 and now want to get the Conforti cold air intake. For the Californians on the list, will I fail the visual portion of the smog check with that intake? Will I need to put my stock air box back on every other year for the smog check? Thanks, -- Rex Tener rex_tener@yahoo.com

Will someone just buy this thing so I don't have to see this listing every month... :-) Regards, Rich - wonders why someone doesn't understand that seven months of listing an item at the same price may be an indication that it is overpriced....

I had baked, caked, PF97, Pagid, who can remember what, dust on a set of wheels. Every wheel cleaner I tried was useless. I even tried a ScotchBrite pad, which did a great job of removing residue and paint (50:50 ratio). I tried dental tools, which remove residue and paint (80:20 ratio) but took an hour per linear inch (well it felt like it). So I did some digging thru multiple boards and came across the use of Oven Cleaner to clean non-coated, non-painted, non -anodized wheels. I found a couple of reference to painted wheels on a Miata board, so I tried it. Works great !! Spray and wait for 10-30 seconds, and wipe off. Rinse and repeat.... Oh, BTW, it is apparantly GREAT at removing anodized finishes, if you have them.....

So either put the stock airbox back on for the test, or do what I did, and get an ECIS CAI. It's only $239, and has a CARB exemption number, so is fully legal in California. I have had mine for a whole week now, and it's been doing great. It appears to be the ECU is not responding and firing the master and fuel pump relays. Everything worked fine when I blew up the motor."   "Does anybody have an ECU # 0261 200 413 laying around that they would want to sell?Lots of reason for this, probably NONE of them the computer. besides a 413 is expensive." Make sure: Fuel pressure lines arent swapped Jump the relay, just to be sure (in the Bentley) Hfm is hooked up, and sending a signal. Lots of wires to accidentally get swapped, especially cam sensor area everything plugged in the bottom of the manifold?? there are 3 fuses for the fuel pump, check all the fuses -- Jay Morris

#9. Name that sound....Looking for AA exhaust - from eevans@planetc.com

Date: Tue, 09 Mar 2004 21:57:26 -0500 From: eevans@planetc.com Subject: Name that sound....Looking for AA exhaust My '99 M3 makes a slight whistle, squeal, etc., upon acceleration for just a half second or so. It will do it most times when I shift gears and the weight transfers on acceleration. It's hard to describe as you can see, and I can't locate the origin. Anyone ever experience or have a similar sound(s)? Also, to hide the noise :-), I'm looking for a used AA exhaust center section and/or the muffler. Anyone have one to sell or know of one? BTW, I have a nice low mileage E36 M3 muffler for sale or trade.
