Don't assume that your car can only steer from the front. A strong suspect for unwanted steering under braking or acceleration would be worn rear trailing arm bushings, sometimes called rear toe bushings. You don't say how many miles your 95 M3 has, or whether these bushings have ever been replaced, but if not, chances are they need to be. Neil 95 M3

It's good to hear that sunroof-less cars are out there somewhere. I'm only a tad over 6' tall but I'm so close to the roof that track weekends are literally a pain in the neck. :-( Actually, the fact is that since our cars didn't come with telescoping steering wheels there's no way that I can ever get perfectly situated. The best is always a compromise between bunching my legs up and stretching my arms out -- and even with my seat all the way down my head is within an inch or so of the headliner. If I didn't like my car so much... Kevin

#6. Gas Gauge Intermittent - from Kevin McLeaster

Date: Sun, 21 Mar 2004 22:33:29 -0500 From: Kevin McLeaster <kmcleaster@iquest.net> Subject: Gas Gauge Intermittent When I fully refueled my 1995 M3 yesterday the gas gauge did not move. Later the next day, when I started the car the gauge needle suddenly jumped forward, indicating a full tank. Later, after a restart the gauge showed completely empty. I would guess that I have a sending unit going out. Can someone tell me what to check, eg. Bentley, FAQ archives ? Thanks, Kevin D. McLeaster WB9HMI '95 M3 Arctic Silver

Classic symptom. >Can someone tell me what to check, eg. Bentley, FAQ archives ? The Bentley covers troubleshooting the senders, how to determine which one is bad, and how to replace them. The "special tool" mentioned in the Bentley isn't necessary. Using a screwdriver and a big hammer, you can tap the locking ring off (and on) fairly easily. The bulb and fuse were good. My problem was that the wire going to the trunk light switch had become disconnected. The trunk light worked fine once the wire was reconnected. Hope this helps. #10. Yet another A032R question - from Walter Jordan

Date: Mon, 22 Mar 2004 07:52:34 -0500 From: "Walter Jordan" <walter@walterj.com> Subject: Yet another A032R question Will the 255/40-17 fit? My wheel wells are already rolled and I have the old H&R sport kit that sit pretty low in the rear. I have 8.5" wheels all around. If it will fit in back, will the front need spacers to keep off the strut (stock housing w/ Konis)? The reason I ask is they only offer the H(ard) compound in 235 or 255 and for similar cash I'd just as well like to have the extra width. I know guys that get 255 Kumho V700s under there but they are TIGHT and I worry that the Yokos might be a wee bit wider and I'd be stuck with tires I can't use. Failing all else, will the 235s mount on an 8.5" wheel? -- Walter Jordan
