When was the last time the 02 sensor was changed? My car was not running well, and it failed inspection here in NJ. I changed the o2 sensor, and the plugs. The car passed inspection, and seemed to run better... hope this helps. Mo 98 M3/4 91 325IX 83 323i. I've changed the thermostat, and the car passed the smog test with really good numbers, and it doesn't burn oil at all, I don't know why the gasmilage is so bad, my M3 is much more efficient. I also don't notice any transmission slippage, since I've heared form many people it might be the culprit, it changes the gears really good. I'd appreciate any input. thanks in advance Henry A. 91 325ica 96 ///M3 PS: I was planning on taking the injectors out and clean them, will this help?

Hey Dave, If you know the part numbers, you can type them into this web page and it will give you the retail price. <http://www.circlebmw.com/parts/price.htm> -- Rex Tener rex_tener@yahoo.com

I've been running them since early last year. Otherwise the Fischers from Steve D'G are supposed to be good, but I haven't seen them myself. Steve tends not to sell anything that isn't first class. I used the Goodridges previously and think they're just OK but no better than that. Supposedly it's the early ones that were too long, fixed in later production, but that's hearsay. Neil 96 M3

I do recall reading about the terminal jumping before, and I can probably find a local club member or shop with a reset tool. I plan on changing my oil soon, but if NOT resetting the lights has no negative consequences, I may just wait until an upcoming inspection or event where a reset tool is handy. If anyone knows for sure whether NOT resetting the lights is bad, I would be interested in hearing from you. Thanks again. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- -----Original Message----- From: Jim Bassett [mailto:jim@jimbassett.com <mailto:jim@jimbassett.com> ] Sent: Tuesday, March 23, 2004 5:52 PM To: Newman, Christopher; E36M3 Subject: Re: [E36M3] Service Interval Lights revisited At 01:50 PM 3/23/04, Newman, Christopher wrote: >Just curious if NOT resetting the lights will cause problems or not. Resetting the SI lights tells it. There's a couple of easy ways to reset the lights: 1. Search the archives, there's a way to reset them by jumping two terminals on the diagnostic connector; 2. Find someone in your area that has a Peake reset tool and ask them to reset your lights - should take 30 seconds (not counting travel time :-)) Jim Bassett

Hope I don't get shot for this, but what's the preferred spark plug, and can I get them at pep boys, or other chain store. I've gotta long trip planned this weekend, and would like to throw them in this evening, since gas prices are so darn high. Anybody know the recommended torque setting? Yes, I am getting an OM and bently soon. Thanks, Patrick

Prices in my area are knocking the door on 2 bucks thou. Pep boys has the bosch, just not those, they carry the double platinums #4303 and quad platinums #4417 for 3.99 & 5.99 respectively. Wonder If I should go that route.... I really don't buy into this multiple electrode platinum BS. I like copper best, just wish I could find them easily. -----Original Message----- From: Jim Bassett [mailto:jim@jimbassett.com] Sent: Thursday, March 25, 2004 1:50 PM To: Patrick Goss - PA; E36M3 Subject: Re: [E36M3] Spark plugs At 10:40 AM 3/25/04, Patrick Goss - PA wrote: >My newly purchased Msedan didn't come with an owners manual.
