#2. Switching Fuel Filter Locations - from Shane Kleinpeter
Top
Date: Wed, 21 Apr 2004 13:34:32 -0700 (PDT) From: Shane Kleinpeter <sak335@yahoo.com> Subject: Switching Fuel Filter Locations I have a 1994 325i that I race in club racing. I've been having problems with fuel leaking at the filter due to a kink in the hose and want to relocate the filter to the location on the 1996 and on cars. Fixing the leak takes forever since I have to remove so many things to get to it and the fuel fumes inside the car are killing me, not to mention the fire risk from having the starter so close to the filter now. Has anybody done this and can give me a parts list? I would look at my '96 but it's in the shop and I think it's going to be there for a while (electrical problems are still keeping me down) so I don't really have access and I need to get this problem fixed ASAP. Thanks, Shane K. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Photos: High-quality 4x6 digital prints for 25¢ http://photos.yahoo.com/ph/print_splash

#6. Re: Idle Drops on Braking - from Nancy and Bob Fluharty

Date: Wed, 21 Apr 2004 18:29:29 -0000 From: "Nancy and Bob Fluharty" <FLUHAR@worldnet.att.net> Subject: Re: Idle Drops on Braking Mel Silva suggested my idle problem (engine speed drops to near stall upon hard braking) could be due to low voltage. Since the battery in that car was off-brand and 4 years old, that sounded plausible. So I said I'd trade batteries with my other car, which had a 1-year old Interstate, and report back. So here I am, reporting. . .no change. Battery swap made no difference, in either car. I'm back to two possibilities: JC chip, or ICV. No one responded to my survey-type questions from my last post, but before proceeding, I'd really like to get a few responses, so I'll try again. For simplicity, let's stick to '95 engines. 1. Is this problem confined to chipped engines? Does anyone with the stock chip experience the problem? 2. Can anyone testify that they had the problem and cured it by cleaning or replacing the ICV? Work with me here. If it turns out that this is a common problem with sharked cars, that's pretty significant info. Bob Fluharty 95 M3 87 E30/S50 Cincinnati

#7. Whining noise... - from DocWyte

Date: Wed, 21 Apr 2004 17:48:06 -0700 (PDT) From: DocWyte <josh_wyte@yahoo.com> Subject: Whining noise... Hey guys, I noticed an odd whining noise coming from my engine bay at this past weekend's auto-x. Happened after my runs and went away after a few minutes. Didn't seem dependent on revs. I suspect the power steering, I'm going to check the fluid level tomorrow. It takes ATF, right? Any old kind or a specific kind? I haven't replaced the factory pinch clamps on the PS lines, so that might be in my near future... Thanks! -josh ===== __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! #9. Floating Rotor Question - from Paul Smith
Top
Date: Thu, 22 Apr 2004 00:29:40 -0500 From: Paul Smith <Paul.Smith@ontariosystems.com> Subject: Floating Rotor Question As I was putting on the new rotor tonight, I realized the the rotors seem to be backwards - in my mind. I would think that the rotor would 'scoop up air' from the outside. Do these rotors get fresh/cool air in the center of the rotor and send it out to the exterior? In reading the instructions, it says left side of the car. Am I coeerct in assuming the driver side is the left side? thanks again, Paul Smith 1998 M/3/4/5
