Date: Thu, 22 Apr 2004 12:38:26 EDT From: Boen168@aol.com Subject: Re: [E36M3] LTW Splitter Conversion The LTW splitter is adjustable in 4 positions. Under track conditions, position #4 which extend the spiltter to the max gives the most downforce to the front as possible. However, for regular daily driving, I use position #2 which is great for both function and looks. At position 2, the downforce created is sufficient that if you let go of the steering wheel at speed, the car will still track straight. Besides the Splitter parts, you will also need the LTW bumper support with the holes pre-drilled and the standard M3 bumper cover will have to be slightly modified . BMW really build these parts for tough racing duties....I've whacked it a few times on curbs and all it does is scratch the bottom! Whining reduced considerably but not gone. Hey guys, I noticed an odd whining noise coming from my engine bay at this past weekend's auto-x. Happened after my runs and went away after a few minutes. Didn't seem dependent on revs. I suspect the power steering, I'm going to check the fluid level tomorrow. It takes ATF, right? Any old kind or a specific kind? I haven't replaced the factory pinch clamps on the PS lines, so that might be in my near future... Thanks! -josh

I don't have a parts list, but my mechanic relocated the fuel filter on the race car ('93 325is). Not quite to were the 96+ is; along the frame rail as it slopes upward toward the engine bay. Uses a filter from a 7 Series - thinner than the E36 one. If it'll help, I can take a few pix of the relocated filter in the next few days. Left side is the left side, regardless of where the steering wheel is <g>. Left and right sides are determined by sitting in the car, facing forward.
