#1. What is the part number for e36 rsm sheet metal repair? - from Jim
Top
Date: Tue, 27 Apr 2004 08:48:33 -0700 From: Jim <rx3sp@lanset.com> Subject: What is the part number for e36 rsm sheet metal repair? I honestly searched. And 2 calls to 2 BMW parts departments were just a waste of breath. I have seen someone here mention a BMW factory piece intended for welding/reinforcing/repairing a broken shock tower. I am not referring to the "Z3 reinforcement" Any help appreciated. -- Jay Morris

#3. FS: Pair of Recaro SRD seats and brackets - from Jay L.

Date: Tue, 27 Apr 2004 09:52:34 -0700 (PDT) From: "Jay L." <joong@yahoo.com> Subject: FS: Pair of Recaro SRD seats and brackets These are black with grey alcantera/suede in the seat backs and bottoms. Gets lots of compliments. Only used one week, because I'm selling my car (they're basically new). Matches very well with either the dove grey, mulberry, or black interior. Keeps you firmly planted in corners - no need to put any effort into staying in your seats. I wouldn't recommend these if your waist is over 36". Comes with factory E36 brackets from Recaro. These allow you to mount your seat belt latches in the factory position and the tensioners as well. Also allows for easy seat adjustment. NOT like the cheaper TC Kline version. Paid $2000, steal them for $1400. Located in the SF Bay Area. I still have the original boxes so shipping won't be that difficult. Email me for pics.

I'd like to test drive the UUC Evo3 (if possible) and Rogue Octane with the WSR. Anyone in the DC area have specimens that I can try (in an E36M)? #6. Jack Stand Newbie Question - from Johnny Lee

Date: Tue, 27 Apr 2004 21:21:45 -0400 From: "Johnny Lee" <arionatof@comcast.net> Subject: Jack Stand Newbie Question Folks, This is going to sound so ... trivial. But this weekend will be the first time I put the M3/4 on 4 jack stands. I am using 4 of those Sears 3.5 tons jacks. What is the proper order of events to put the car on all 4 jack stands (as you can tell, I have never done it, not even on two jack stands.) I am going to a friend's house, and he has the Sears aluminum floor jack, so it ought to help a bit. I am going to take out the hockey pucks and just use some newspaper to sandwich between the jack stand and the chassis. BTW, I still have one of the E46 jack pads left from when I did the Stygar drill-through hockey puck conversion, and I realized that the E46 jack pads fits the Sears jack stand quite well. has anyone tried that before? The reason I am putting the car on jack stands is that I am doing RTABs, transmission and differential fluids, fuel filter, changing the muffler hanging brackets, flush brake fluids. it should be an eventful day :) TIA, Johnny 1998 M3/4 ~78K mailto:mclee@ieee.org

I got one as a sample to try and could not make it clamp onto plastic part of the seatbelt. It kept slipping right off. Just curious as I'd like to try it out this weekend. Usually what I do is get one front corner up on a stand first. Once one of the front corners is on a stand, I can get my jack to reach the front subframe, and lift the whole front up evenly and get the stands positioned. Then I jack the whole rear using the rear subframe. >I am going to take out the hockey pucks and just >use some newspaper to sandwich between the jack stand and the chassis. I usually leave the jack pads in there. That's what they're there for. Once it's up on all fours, I'll give the side of the car a good shove. Chance are good that if I can't push it off the stands, it won't fall on me :-) So far, so good, under 2 E36s <knock on wood>. > The reason I am putting the car on jack stands is that I am doing > RTABs, >transmission and differential fluids, fuel filter, changing the muffler >hanging brackets, flush brake fluids. it should be an eventful day :) Hopefully it won't be :-).
