There are two pieces to each fastener - you need to remove the inner plug first (pry out with a small screwdriver blade or the like), then the outer section should come out easily. - Bill

Everytime after I filled up to the full mark, on start up, the fuel gauge will read empty, reserve light comes on and the range info. on my OBC will read zero or even minus! Gauge and everything else are back to normal after just a few miles of driving! This started to happen some 2 1/2 years ago...never bothered to fix it. Solution is to guesstimate fuel amount at fill-up not all the way to the full mark! Indeed, this problem had struck many members' cars, mine included. Mine's a '99 and it when it was close to the 50,000 miles mark (it's now close to 70K) when it occurred. Started off the same way, occasional hiccup but then gradually got more chronic until it almost never read correctly again. After a fill up, it would only read quarter full until about the 100 miles (on the trip odo) mark when it would gradually creep towards the correct reading. This also affected the 'Range' reading on my OBC. The problem, in my case anyway, rested with the sender and the dealer replaced under warranty. I haven't experienced the problem since. Sorry to say but your sender will probably take the same route and deteriorate until it no longer functions and would require a replacement at a specialist or dealer. Hope this helps. Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone has tried running 245/45R17 all around, on the staggered '96 plus wheel set-up. I know I'll lose about 4% gearing, but will the 1" taller tires fit front and rear? (Falken says they fit 7.5" rims, so that shouldn't be an issue.) Currently, I have Dinan springs and about 2 degree in front and 1.8 in back. I have a tiny bit of fender rolling to fit my 245 SO3 in back. If not, think I'll go with the new PS2. Be sure to remove the inner "plug" first with a flat head screw driver. Once done, the second componet of the fastener should lift right out. Good Luck. Last week it just shut down on me. I checked all the fuses and everything seemed fine. This morning it came back on its own. Then it was flickering.. On and off.... It completely dies off and then comes back on its own. Anyone else had these issues? Where should I begin to look? Thanks in advance. Ahmad

#7. Compression #'s - from Steve Klein

Date: Tue, 1 Jun 2004 10:55:03 -0500 From: Steve Klein <klein@robinsonad.com> Subject: Compression #'s Hi, Group- I did a compression test yesterday (my first), and I'd love to hear some input on the numbers I got: The Car: 11/95 M3, 132K mi. First test: Engine run for 5-6 min. and at half operating temp (one write up said the engine didn't need to be hot) 1) 185 2) 185 3) 181 4) 185 5) 185 6) 184 Second test: Engine fully warmed up (as per Bentley) 1) 189 2) 185 3) 185 4) 184 5) 180 6) 180 After reading others' results, these seemed low to me, but it is a 'mature' engine. I'm also curious as to why some numbers dropped when the engine was fully warmed up, and tapered off from the front of the block to the rear. Like I said, it was my first compression test, so I'd love to hear your thoughts/comments. Thanks, Steve

My rear fender wells are rolled for my 255/40/17 street tires. I personnally won't go that way again as I could feel the gearing change. I currently run 235/40/17 rubber but that's a compromise too. Some one should make a 245/40/17 r-compound tire that doesn't cost $200+ ;-( Bob Gill 97 ///M3 coupe Philly Region SCCA BSP Champion '01 & '02 SM '03

#9. BMW CD43 radio - How to access 6-disk changer? - from Joe Huie

Everything works but I don't have any instructions on how to access the 6 disk changer mounted in my trunk, which this radio is suppose to be able to do. My old radio/cassette has a "mode" button to toggle between AM/FM/CD. Anyone care to provide me the instructions on how to do that? Also, any pointers to a online manual in pdf would be great (what does RDS and PTY mean?). Thanks much. Joe

RDS stands for "Radio Data System". If a station chooses to do so, they can broadcast info on this. Typically, they broadcast the station name and the current song/artist. Our local Clearchannel stations in Denver just started broadcasting info on this system earlier this year even though the technology has been available to them for years. PTY stands for "Programming Type". This allows you to search for stations broadcasting a particular type of programming such as NEWS, CURRENT AFFAIRS, INFO(information), SPORT, EDUCATION, DRAMA, CULTURE etc. I dont know if this is used in the Good 'ole USofA. These systems are very common and well utilized in Europe, but here in the heartland of technology, they are only now being implemented... For more info on other great systems not available in the US, check out this UK website: http://www.radio-now.co.uk/faq1.htm Graeme -----Original Message----- From: Joe Huie [mailto:jhuie@inreach.com] Sent: Tuesday, June 01, 2004 10:57 AM To: E36M3 Subject: [E36M3] BMW CD43 radio - How to access 6-disk changer?
