#1. [E36M3] Tie Downs, Was Shifter upgrade: Ron Stygar setup vs Rogue - from James Clay

Make sure you are using only the type of hooks that insert under the factory jack points, like the ones on our website and from Bimmerhaus. DO NOT EVER use the factory BMW tow hook that goes in the bumper to tie a car down with any tension. The car will move some due to suspension and tire flex/movement and after bouncing along the road like this for a bit, you will bend your bumper shock or frame rail. I am not at all sure if this is even what you meant, but it threw up a warning flag for me. James James Clay http://www.bimmerworld.com Engineered BMW Performance 540.639.9648

I figured it was dead based on my experience with my previous BMW (535is). I pulled the panel and found the wire was disconnected. It works fine now :-) Always check the easy stuff first. Lee, On my 9/95 M3, the grey wire supplies power to the BMW (aka Alpine) siren horn. It looks like the connector is part of the standard wiring harness whether or not you have the BMW alarm or not. If you don't have the factory alarm, it was probably taped up and not used. When you smacked the cones, it might have come loose and fell down. Lowell Seaton '95 M3

#7. Trailer Hitch and Harness - from Rich Dorffer

Date: Tue, 22 Jun 2004 12:24:34 -0700 (PDT) From: Rich Dorffer <e36m3digest@ameritech.net> Subject: Trailer Hitch and Harness I know that a number of you have hitches on your E36 M3s. I found the following possibilities: DaLan Class I Trailer Hitch (#247258) Curt Class I Trailer Hitch (I never heard of this one) Also, it appears that the best recommendation for wiring them was as follows: Draw-Tite ModuLite Trailer Light Power Module #18187 (courtesy of Wayne Miller and Mark Dadger) with www.hitch-web.com as one source (courtesy of Mark Dadger) for about $60 (free shipping) I also read about Steve Grigory's tire well reinforcement at www.bmw-m.net, something similar might be a good idea but I understand that the DaLan comes with a reinforcement plate for the tire well so this may be a moot point. Any other comments from those that have installed hitches? Any other recommendations? Have had no problems with either. I don't recall the adapter in the M3 but the one in the 325 is the U-Haul one I stripped from the Jeep before I junked it. Both use standard 4 wire connectors and wire to the real lights. Only issue I have had is intermittent warning on both cars about tail, turn, or brake light failures. No real problems but occasional warnings, I guess from the trailer wiring and the ultra sensitive test circuits. Yes, the DaLan comes with tire well reinforcements. If it comes out, the whole well is gone.
