The rear felt too low, and the ride was horrible. I also tried getting some 10mm pads and it raised the rear a little, but still looked and felt terrible. I gave up and bought the Eibach ProKit and feel the rear ride height is just right. I never had a problem with the H&R Sport fronts...just those red rears. - Eric > -----Original Message----- > From: Chamberlain, Jesse [mailto:jchamb06@harris.com] > Sent: Monday, August 30, 2004 10:53 AM > To: E36M3 > Subject: Re: [E36M3] Suspension Again > > Date: Mon, 30 Aug 2004 10:52:11 -0400 > From: "Chamberlain, Jesse" <jchamb06@harris.com> > Subject: Re: [E36M3] Suspension Again > > I just upgraded the suspension on my 99 M3 to the new > Bilsteins, and H&R Sports. > Here are some pictures if anyone is interested: > http:\\lynx.dac.neu.edu\j\jechambe\springs\PIC00001.JPG > http:\\lynx.dac.neu.edu\j\jechambe\springs\PIC00002.JPG > http:\\lynx.dac.neu.edu\j\jechambe\springs\PIC00003.JPG > > The rear is kind of low for my tastes. Oh man did I get a deal on this thing. :-) I believe the DK20 thru Steve D'G's scratch and dent sale was $110. I couldn't find the scratch or the dent. The PF3 attendees probably saw a bunch of them being used at VIR. Carlos. (didn't go but was there in spirit, and my floor jack was there too)

Having used mail.yahoo previously, the two big points that gmail has over mail.yahoo is space (1gb storage) and better spam catching (misses about 30/week instead of 30/day that Y! was missing, based on redirecting an email address of mine that gets about 50/day.) gmail is still a closed system, listed as Beta. I have 6 invites I can distribute; if you would like one, just send me an email off-list. Jim 98 M3/2

#9. PF97 vs 01 pads - from twisty M3
Top
Date: Tue, 31 Aug 2004 08:58:37 -0700 From: "twisty M3" <twistym3@hotmail.com> Subject: PF97 vs 01 pads For those who are interested, I was finally able to try out the Performance Friction PF01 compound race pads last weekend at Thunderhill raceway, in beautiful Willows, CA. ;) I was already a very happy user of the PF97, but always curious as to other options. For E36M3 stock calipers, they only offer the fronts in the 01, so you still need to use 97s in the rear. My first observation was that they do seem to work better at cool temps. I'm lazy, so I change front rotors and all pads a week or so before driving to an event. These seemed just like a street pad during all street temps encountered (apx 60 degrees and up), but they're obviously loud and clanky (no retaining springs)... and dusty, of course. No drama using them at street temps, though. Got to Thunderhill and started to put them through the real test. They work well on fast warm up laps, and are up to seeminly full operating temps by the end of the first lap (mind you, it was also just over 100 degrees most of the time). NEVER a hint of any sort of fade, but the 97s never really faded on me either, and I'm generally pretty easy on pads as it is. Once up to operating temp, they certainly take some getting used to. Nothing negative, but they provide absolutely phenomenal stopping power with my heavy street car. I hardly had to use any pedal pressure, and had to avoid over-braking for Turn 10, as I found myself entering too slow for the first session on day 1. I'm very pleased with their performance, and I would guess that they might even be overkill for lighter cars. Longevity of pad life appears as though it will be the same or better than that of the 97s (which lasted forever by race pad standards) and I'm looking forward to putting them through phase 2 testing next weekend at Buttonwillow. ;) Just another opinion in the long list of favorite brake pads spoken of on the list. Hopefully it adds another level of troubled decision making for those looking for new, better or different race pads.
