Having recently ordered Rejex from Mo, I can say that the product works as advertised. I applied it on my wheels and the nose of the car. The majority of the dirt, bugs and brake dust rinses off and what remains easily comes off with the wash mit and soap suds. -Steve "not affiliated with Rejex or Mo...just a happy customer" At 06:06 PM 10/3/2004, twisty M3 wrote: >I haven't tried this yet, but it's on my to-do list, as my track wheels >have been gunked up for a long time due to PF97 dust getting wet... #8. (LONG) A little list of electronic mods (was: rear window conversion) - from John Firestone
Top
Date: Mon, 4 Oct 2004 18:35:09 +0200 (CEST) From: John Firestone <johnf@freenet.de> Subject: (LONG) A little list of electronic mods (was: rear window conversion) O.K. here's a list of controllers and mods, some of which are in other people's cars. The first controller I came up with after plowing through the BMW Zubehoer (accessories) catalog is the ZZKE (Zusaetzliche Zentrale Karosserie-Elektronik / "supplementary central body electronics") which sits in an unused slot in the module rack behind the glove box. It adds: - Automatic door locking when the engine starts or the car moves, with re-locking after someone opens and closes a door, - Remote control locking that can completely close up the car, or leave just the sunroof tilted open on hot summer days, - Remote control unlocking that can lower the windows and tilt open the sunroof, - An audible oil pressure warning if the oil pressure switch closes, or if it doesn't when it should, - Auxiliary ventilation and heating (park ventilation) under the control of an on-board computer or remote control, with start-up / shut-down flashing and battery discharge protection, - Sunroof and window controls that remain on after you turn off the ignition and open a door, as in Europe, - A six-way, central sunroof and window switch ("skunk" switch) that can open and close the windows, open and close just the sunroof, or open and close everything with as much one-touch action as the car will support, - A shift-up warning to avoid hitting the rev-limiter or to help shift at the power maximum, with rpm thresholds tailored to the first four gears, - A data logging mode which it outputs the distance travelled, the engine speed, and the road speed, 18.75 times per second, and finally, - A speed limit warning for cars that don't have an on-board computer or a second limit warning for cars that do. You can use the speed limit warning to return the cruise control to the limit when you next drive the car. The "ZZKE" controller, however, didn't take care of everything, particularly after I convinced Ron Stygar to install one in his Z3M coupe. :) So, I came up with another, simpler one, the "Mini Automotive Controller" (MAC) for everything else, which - mostly because Ron and others are involved - is a list that never seems to end. I, therefore, designed the MAC controller to be easy to apply to new mods. For each new mod, I add a bit of code to the controller, you install one in the car or another one in the car, wire it in, "code" it, and you are in business. I have a couple in my 318is to: - turn on the interior light for 15 minutes when I push a button in the middle console rather than fumble for the overhead light switch and perhaps leave it on - remove the 116 mph top speed limiter (for driving the Autobahn) - flash the turn signals three times when I tap the stalk to signal a lane change. (I have been making up a mating harnesses that makes this mod plug and play.) You can also add MAC modules to: - run the auxilary fan for up to half an hour after you turn off the engine to cool down the engine compartment - keep the dome light on for a couple minutes rather than ca. 20 s after you switch off the ignition at night - add sport mode to an S54 Z3M/Z3M coupe, or restore sport mode and/or ASC/DSC to how they were the last time you drove the car - control a solenoid to pop open the trunk by remote control and/or from a console mounted switch. Finally, I have a small controller inside the trunk lid that turns off the light after 15 minutes to protect the battery when I work on the car or accidently forget to close the trunk. -John '96 318is
