They work great and come in colors. I have some on the way for this exact Sat. repair job. Also, go to a good shop that does hoses for trucks and industrial equipment. I had a PS hose made for my E30 M3. THey inspected and used the ends from the existing hose. They salvaged the restrictor from the old hose. My final cost was about $100 when the dealer wanted close to $300. The hose swap was easy. Reset the cam to 0deg TDC and wha la, no more weird emissions at idle. This was a single underhead cam engine too, not that it matters. So, if the vanos is 'stuck' would that cause this odd behavior? Shephard" <kents@kls-consulting.com> Subject: Re: [E36M3] Failed Emissions Testing with JC Chip Hi, Unburned hydrocarbons is part of what a cat is for. This indicates your car is running rich and the cat either can't keep up because it is sooo rich or your cat is failing and can't keep up. Either way, I think you cat is bad. The only time I ever had a car fail that had a good cat was when the ICV on my E30 M3 was shot. It was running so rich that the cat couldn't keep up. I was running a JC chip. I fixed the ICV and the car passed with flying colors. It was only failing the low speed portion of the test. The cat was marginal. I would have to say that a car that fails with a JC chip probably has other things amiss; bad cat, O2 sensors failing, ICV, etc. Kent Bob Dorchester wrote: >Date: Tue, 12 Oct 2004 22:11:01 -0500 >From: "Bob Dorchester" <rjdorche@concentric.net> >Subject: Re: [E36M3] Failed Emissions Testing with JC Chip > >Martin, I have a 4/94 build M3 and purchased my Euro HFM and Conforti chip from Turner in December 1998.
