Date: Tue, 19 Oct 2004 22:45:30 -0700 From: "Chris Blumenthal" <blumenthal@aechelon.com> Subject: RE: 95 M3 Stock Radio Rear Speaker Size There are tweeters and 4" midrange speakers in the '95 M3 rear speaker boxes. It is not worth the time and money to replace the midrange speakers- you will not get meaningful bass out of any speaker that will fit in those boxes, if that is your objective. The factory Nokias are adequate to provide rear fill. What you trying to accomplish? I put a pair of the JL Audio Stealth boxes in my wife's '97 M3/4 (not supposed to fit, but can be made to...), and although they are a bit bigger than the factory boxes, they don't really take up much useful trunk space. If you are after bass, I recently put an Infinity BASSLINK self-contained sub unit in my '95 M3 (Ebay, $150), and am quite happy with it. It has more than adequate sound, nice features, a small footprint and is easily removed. The fronts will work fine but the rears are way off size. The rear E46 M3 wheels have something like 25 mm offset. That pushes the wheels way outboard. No amount of fender rolling will make them fit on an E36 coupe/sedan. Lowell Seaton '95 M3/2

#8. Service schedule for Dinan SC M3 ... - from The Buch

Having been about 20,000km (12,000mi) since installing a Dinan SC on my '99, I am wondering if any listers have found from experience what intervals to replace the SC-specific components - air filter, plugs, belt, etc.?? Or do I just stick to the usual BMW specs for maintenance?? I didn't really get any special instructions from Dinan on this. Thanks, Doug

When I say cold start, I meant engine temp only, not "weather channel temp". It can be a hot day at the jersey beach and it will stumble on engine cold start. I am considering an Active Autowerkes reflash and after talking in detail with the owner Mike Hugh, he recommended going to dealer first to make sure I have the latest upgrade. Of course I am trying to prevent that step/expense if I can..... I thought I remember a list member here stating there was a dealer ECU software update to address this, just trying to determine if I do, or do not have it already.... Mine has the sticker. My car also does not exhibit any cold start problem. I do live in Ca. so it's never really "that" cold. Even if the dealer reflashes you don't lose the after market software. You can always reflash with the Shark Injector. It gets married to the SN of your ECU the first time you use it. For example, I got my car used, I know it was dealer serviced previously (leased car) and had some upgrades or reflashes as they call them. I just don't know which ones it has, or if it has the latest and greatest. I assume since the e36 is out of production, you'd basically like to confirm it has the youngest upgrade? I do confirm the cold start stumble and am not sure if it has ever been addressed via the dealer software upgrade. My question.... is there a way for me to determine what I have sans dealer? If I can determine what I have, what version, (assuming there is numerical code give to it), would I want? Knowing what I have may certainly prevent unnecessary expense and a trip to the stealer :) Apparently this all becomes an issue if you are having your ECU reflashed by an aftermarket tuner I understand as they go on top of what the dealer has. Therefore in essence If I pay $$$ coin to have it upgraded, I better make sure I have the latest dealer one installed as if I ever have to take it back to the dealer for a future reflash, well I perhaps stand to loose the tuner one. Make sense? Any advice on this subject? I had my DME version upgraded by dealer right after I bought my car used. Seems to me the new version installed was 24, but not sure. They'll use the most current version. Mine was done under warranty, so no charge. For some reason, I'm thinking my old version was 15, but again not sure. Mine is a '97. Jay
