I've thrown away these in the past when I got new foglights. I hit some road debris and the light stayed intact but the bracket broke. Thanks. Jay SF Bay Area

Hey all - I've had my wonderful ZKW's and HID lights for 3 years now, and finally a light bulb blew. I'm looking for the best (i.e. cheapest) source for a new H1 HID (preferably 4200K) light bulb source. Should I buy two and replace both bulbs to be sure the color matches? I took a pretty good hit to my LF wheel and now it has more camber (and toe!) than an F1 car. Lucky! No injuries. Any listers in the area ? Griot's special ordered it (not a regular stock item) and only charged me $11.28. Those who have purchased one will know that this is a good price. Neat tool for getting in to the diff plugs. Incidentally the Griot's folks were a pleasure to work with on this special order. YMMV. Kurt H. New to me 95 M3

#6. Sparco Evo2 Seats w/ 3-point Belt? - from Roy Kao

Date: Mon, 25 Oct 2004 10:56:43 -0400 From: "Roy Kao" <bimmerphile@hotmail.com> Subject: Sparco Evo2 Seats w/ 3-point Belt? I'm getting ready to commit to a pair of Sparco Evo2 seats to have them installed over the winter but I have a question about using them with the stock 3-point belts: can it be done? I don't have a cage in the car yet and I am one of those firm believers that will not install 5- or 6-point harnesses unless I have at least a half cage in the back of the car. So, I want to use the seats with the 3-point seat belts for the time being. Does anyone have experience using this particular setup? Or using another motorsport seat with the 3-point belts? I plan to get the Evo2 seats with the floor mounting hardware and sliders. I think TC Kline sells the hardware specifically for the E36? Any help from the Digest would be appreciated. TIA... #8. steering rack play - from gary.preece
Top
Date: Mon, 25 Oct 2004 17:13:59 -0400 From: "gary.preece" <gary.preece@insightbb.com> Subject: steering rack play I have been getting an intermittent vibration in the front end and it turns out to be play in the steering rack. I checked the tie rods that I recently replaced and they are fine. The play is back in the rack when I grab the wheel at 3 and 9 and move it. Has anyone rebuilt the steering rack on a 95 M3? Some old e-mails make me think that Chester may have. Are all the racks the same for the 325, etc.? Some salvage yards charge more just because of the M3, I think. Rebuilts are around $500. How hard is it to get the wheels centered when doing it yourself. Any help appreciated. Gary 95 M3

For an interim solution, I went to the junkyard and got a rack off of another 3 series. The only reason you'd want to rebuild is if it was leaking. If you have play, then there's something else wrong...say the rack or pinon is worn. The rebuild kit consists only of o-rings and plastic bushings. Having said that, the junkyard rack has a bit of play in it, but I was having a weird vibration/whir*whir*whir feel during hard cornering. Turns out that I had one fried wheel bearing. Replaced it last week...all is good. Well, except I went to change the tranny fluid and only a pint of fluid or so came out :( There is a leak...anyone have any info about replacing seals? My diff is also weeping and less fluid came out too :( On a side note, the rear sway bar bracket broke again. I'm thinking about buying a new subframe, reinforcing it from the get go and then installing it :( Chester --- "gary.preece" <gary.preece@insightbb.com> wrote: > Has anyone rebuilt the steering rack on a 95 M3? Input shaft bearings are toast. Left seal is leaking and bearing is questionable. The diff is working, as is the limited slip. Always ran redline lube. Anyone with rebuilding dreams please make an offer.
