You would be better off with an et45 rim and then use spacers on the front. But since you have staggered wheels, you could have different offset on the front and rear. Lowell Seaton '95 M3/2

I had a 75 530 a few years ago. Sorta miss it at times :( Bleeding the brake on those e12's was another story. Heck there were 3 bleeders on each front caliper, I guess since they were dual piston. I couldn't believe BMW actually put dual piston calipers on those cars. I remember seeing somewhere that braking system shared common pieces to that of Ferrari. When properly maintained those brakes were awesome. I had stainless lines on mine and even with a ~5 inch wide tire that car stopped like you wouldn't believe. I'm still waiting to see an e12 with and e36M motor in it. Most of those e12 guys go for the euro motor, or newer 535, even with the stock 3.0 184hp was not bad at all for its time. I had a '78 530i that used two pins and a spring clip to retain pads and position them. It was a 20 minute brake job. It took longer to remove the wheel than to change the pads. Keep us informed! BTW, where are you guys buying the tool to compress the caliper pistons on the stock calipers? I'm kinda getting tired of using my channel locks. I was at a DE some years ago and a fella had a really nifty tool he was using on his M coupe... -josh

My '77 E12 530i: 3.6l "big six" with 6800rpm redline, 265+ rwhp on dyno Getrag 265 5-speed tranny Dinan Stage IV suspension, but with stock rear sway bar M3 LWT 17x7.5" wheels w/225/45-17 tires stock brakes free-flow exhaust great Recaro seats oversize radiator other minor stuff In its heyday (it now has over 100,00 miles on the rebuilt motor) it was going 5.6s 0-60's. #9. FS: Oil filters - from Martin Bullen

Date: Sat, 13 Nov 2004 20:14:50 -0500 From: Martin Bullen <vze322dw@verizon.net> Subject: FS: Oil filters Earlier this year I installed a Victory Product Design oil cooler kit on my M3. Since the Victory design replaces the lid on the oil filter canister with one which is incompatible with the standard oil filters, I now have to use filters designed for the later plastic-top type oil filter canister. Anyway, long story short, I'd bought a 10-lot of filters a while back, and still have 5 of them left. I'm listing on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ViewItem&rd=1&item=7933850336&category=33661 But if anyone on-list is interested, I'll also sell them direct at a list-only price of $25 for all 5. #10. Is it worth getting 18" wheels for auto-x? - from docwyte@comcast.net

Date: Mon, 15 Nov 2004 01:56:22 +0000 From: docwyte@comcast.net Subject: Is it worth getting 18" wheels for auto-x? Might have a chance to get a decent, light set of 18's for track wheels. What are the tires/sizes that would fit? I currently run either 245-40-17 Hoo hoos or 255-40-17 Victos... Any real advantage to the 18's vs the 17's? Tires cost more obviously... -josh
