#1. 16" snow for M3 - from RFKoby@aol.com

Date: Mon, 22 Nov 2004 12:59:11 -0500 From: RFKoby@aol.com Subject: 16" snow for M3 Jay, don't think the Borbet Type H was originally listed as a "proper" fit for the E36 M3. Because you had worn brake pads and rotors, this generates the additional need clearance for the brake calipers. Since you now have new brake pads and rotors, the clearance is gone, and now you have rubbing issues. The TireRack sells a 16" alloy snow wheel that will properly fit the E36 M3: AT Italia Type 5 @ $148 ea. bob >-------------------- 3 -------------------- >Date: Sat, 20 Nov 2004 19:41:53 EST >From: JayKenty@aol.com >Subject: [E36 M3] Snow Wheels/Tires > >Went out today to make the annual switch to my snow set and found a big >surprise. It expands the caliper enough to contact the inside of the wheel. Last winter I noticed the same thing, one of my Ronal 16" wheels was *slightly* bent (after an issue the winter before with a pothole that also destroyed the shock). It would just rub the caliper. I almost removed my wheels until I figured out that the brake pads were the cause. I just left them that way because I figured the caliper is a much harder metal than the wheel metal, so the slight rubbing would go away. Never had any issues with braking performance. Maybe your wheel is a closer fit than the one I am using. I figure I'll only have the issue if I happen to install brand new brake pads at the same time I install my winter wheels (which will probably not happen again). Other cheap solutions include getting a used set of brake pads or buying a small set of spacers. -Justin '76 02 '97 m3 http://www.bmw2002.net

Ted, You mechanic has been working NOT with Racing Dynamics, but with their cheap US-side knock-offs Electrodyne. The Alexandria VA based Electrodyne have conned and sued the parent company for RD brand name in the US market. Read more http://tinyurl.com/6w8db Electrodyne is a gross spammer of BMW lists and an all around bottom-feeder company. Buyer beware. > I am just curious as to why he said 2 O2s instead of 4... he > couldn't remember off the top of his head (he works mostly with > ODB1 cars that have 1 O2) and I'm sure he just looked at that > diagram wrong (he might not have even looked at quanity, he > said the picture shows only two) A quicky-lube monkey can look under the car and count the # of 02 sensors. If you mechanic can't, consider looking for someone mildly competent. Good luck, alex f LSC

I knew Electrodyne was not the offical RD but did not know it was this bad. Hmmm... I haven't relied on my mechanic for any work on my car yet, but this is very good to know... usually just get parts through Gary... and I've always second guessed some of what he tells me, so more fuel for the fire. Just out of curiosity, for those of you in the Northern VA/DC area, where do you take your M3s for service... like major service I mean, simpler stuff my dad and I usually do. Thanks! ted

I believe the 95 M3 has 240hp, and the Euro 3.2 (which was post 95, there was a Euro 3.0 as well) has 321hp. http://www.bmwmregistry.com/model_faq.php?id=14 By the way, from your post it seems like you are doing an engine swap... where did you find the Euro 3.2 and how much does that go for? Anyone know if this is just a direct replacement, a Euro 3.2 that is, for an 97 S52? ted
