So if you can say lathe spin the wheels to remove rash/nicks and prep them well, can you tell the difference between say a do-it yourselfer job and a vigin oem spare in the trunk? I think the contours with more surface area would be easier to detect vs the 10 spoke style wheel...curious any "been there done that" experience. I am refinishing a set of M Contours this weekend and need the paint and clear coat to finish this up. Thing is, I don't want to order the Wurths online since I want to do this work tomorrow. Anyone know of any stores I could check that would sell this stuff and the clear coat? Also, I'm assuming I need 2 cans paint and 1 of clear coat... right? Any speciality places in the Northern VA area too if no big retailers. Thanks! ted ************************************************* Please help support the E36M3 list by visiting our sponsors: Bimmerworld http://www.bimmerworld.com Turner Motorsport http://www.turnermotorsport.com Eurosport High Performance http://www.eurosporthighperformance.com Rogue Engineering http://www.rogueengineering.com DIGEST INFORMATION: http://www.bmw-m.net/resources/digest_info.htm *************************************************

The Contours like most BMW cast wheels are soft as butter. Get some Scotchbright sanding sponges and go at it. Respray and Clear coat and you are good for street use. Even looking closely. Are they show car ready, Probably not. But if you want to drive the car, the results are more than acceptable. Assuming you clean the wheels well and get them up to room temp blah^3 (learn to paint disclaimers) Jim >>>> Interesting, I'd be curious the results of your project. I'm not using it any more because the wife preferred the stock throw. It's a decent piece, but shifter throw is a matter of personal preference. I was raised on Alfas, so the factory throw is startlingly short by comparison. Lemme know if you want it and what it's worth to ya. Dave Hogg

Poll the Club Racing list you may get more responses. -Carlos.

#8. Recommendations for 60K service in PA/NJ? - from Peter H Reinhart

Date: Sun, 5 Dec 2004 17:42:44 -0500 From: "Peter H Reinhart" <reinhart@neuro.duke.edu> Subject: Recommendations for 60K service in PA/NJ? Just relocated to the Princeton (NJ) area and need to have a 60K service (E36M3) done. I've called Princeton BMW three times so far and have been told all of the 'Service' reps are busy and will call me back. To this day no callbacks, so Princeton BMW is off my 'preferred dealer' list. Does anyone know of a good dealer in the Princeton to North-Philadelphia area? Preferably one who doesn't get that worried look on his face if an M3 with a roll-bar, fire-extinguisher, and rattling brake pads rolls up? Peter '98 M3
