The newer Alpine 60x4 decks, like the CDA-9835, do NOT have to be wired directly to the battery. Just use a BMW wire harness adapter and you're good to go. Easy deal. I won't discount your experiences with your 535is, but I have to comment regarding the E36 platform. 1. Shocks don't support the weight of the car. Springs do. If the spring coils are binding, they are either showing the signs of being overstressed (too little spring rate for the car's weight/ driver's style), or the are too short/ not enough bumpstop. 2. Bilstein Sports shocks are know for their firm bump and rebound control. Most Bilstein HD's are approximately the same valving, but designed for longer (stock length) springs. I would say that at full stiffness, a Koni SA is a bit stiffer than a Bilstein Sport, but at half or less rebound, the Koni is softer. 3. I've used H&R and Eibach springs. In stock configuration (Eibach Pro-kit, H&R 29910), 60mm (H&R), and 2.5" Eibach ERS. I've had no quality issues with any, with the exception of the various 'versions' of the H&R29910 rears. I've yet to see 'sagging' from either the 60mm H&R's or the Eibach ERS springs in the past years I've been associated with BMW racecars 4. H&R Sports do have a little more spring rate than Eibach Pro-kit springs (E36 application), but for most folks, they are more concerned with ride quality (shocks) or stance (ride height drop). FWIW, I currently have the Ground Control Track/School coilover setup with 500# front springs, 600# rears, with Koni SA's valved to match. It wont get out of the blue on the dial even after 1 hr worth of driving at highway speeds. Actually, when I sit a red light it will climb to the first normal hashmark but as soon as I drive it comes down to the blue again. Sometimes it comes back down to the middle of the blue when on the highway. I would like to know what the general feelings are about blocking off some of the grille area below the front bumper to shut out some cold air instead of changing the thermostat. Will this cause severe hot spots? I think that since there is ample area between the radiator and the grilles that comes off the lower there should still be enough air flowing through but I am not sure. The temps here change anywhere from 20 to 70 in a week. Any thoughts?

It's better than the stock head unit sound but if you're serious about your sound you'll probably want to pull the stock amp, and then you get into speaker replacement as well. 2) You're right, the replacement head unit won't use the diversity antenna. I haven't heard any big problems with just using the main connector; it seems to work well enough for me, but I don't listen to a lot of radio. - Greg David Heckendorf wrote: > Date: Wed, 15 Dec 2004 22:15:09 -0800 > From: David Heckendorf <daveheckendorf@gmail.com> > Subject: Re[2]: [E36M3] cd changer dead, need new head unit advice > > Are they able to use the BMW Diversity Antenna built into the car?
