They run an ad in Autoweek, 20% off list plus free shipping on orders over $100. The numerous times I had used them, they were really responsive and had pretty much everything I needed of in stock. -steve At 02:54 PM 12/27/2004, Jim Bassett wrote: > Quoting Theodore Serbinski <stanson@gmail.com>: Right now my shop was going > > to look into Passport BMW in MD (I'm in VA) but I'm sure there are > > better ones out there. > >I've had good luck in the past with Pacific BMW and Nick Alexander BMW.

#2. BTG Racing lightened flywheel installed - from Robert S. Hatrak II

Date: Wed, 29 Dec 2004 10:36:59 -0800 From: "Robert S. Hatrak II" <rob@hatrak.com> Subject: BTG Racing lightened flywheel installed With all of the talk about clutches and lightened flywheels, I thought I'd chime in and share my recent experience of installing the kit that Chester Wong and Jim El Nabli of BTG Racing put together for me. As a disclaimer, they are both guys that I consider to be good friends. They also happen to offer a kick-ass product and terrific customer service. List members here have told stories of cars stalling, chattering, needing new chips, installing 325i slave cylinders to restore pedal feel, etc. with other vendor's kits installed. No Thanks! Then comes along Chester and Jim saying that their kit exhibited none of the above annoyances, and that the factory slave cylinder would be retained. I finally took a leap of faith two weeks ago and had the BTG kit installed, and I am so happy I did. When the UPS driver delivered the package, I could hardly wait to see what was inside. I asked the guys to send me the clutch and flywheel, as well as any other "while you are in there" parts. Every thing I could have possibly needed was in there, and they even sent me all parts that I'd need to eliminate my shifter slop. Bonus! Then, at the bottom of the box....there is was...12 pounds of gleaming flywheel. I took it out and could hardly believe how light it was. This flywheel is a modified M5 unit made of steel, rather than aluminum. Also included is a very impressive looking M5 clutch. This is going to be fun! After a quick phone call to my favorite shop in Vegas (big shout out to PPR Automotive!), my car was in for surgery three days later. With the goods installed and an empty road in front of me it, was hammer time. First gear went by in a blink and second and third were also dispatched quite quickly. I could not believe this was the same car! Downshift time...just for the fun of it. Wow! rev-matching is so easy now. The car just wants to rev up and down. Very effortless. I tested the improved throttle response so much on the way home, that I actually got queasy and had to stop. The car honestly feels like it lost 1000 pounds of weight, or that the uhaul trailer in back finally broke free. Much like when the car was new, I am again looking for reasons to drive somewhere just for the hell of it. Unlike other people's experiences, I do believe there is a noticeable difference in every gear, not just 1-3. Another nice thing about the kit is that it is not too light. The car doesn't require any re-learning of how to drive it, and the clutch pedal feel and engagement point are unchanged. There is no stalling at all. No big, terrible noises, etc. I did hear a slight rattle for about 2 minutes while sitting once, but I could not hear it from inside the car. This is the way the car should have come from the factory. I whole-heartedly endorse this kit to anyone else who may be sitting on the fence. You will not regret it. Thanks to Chester and Jim for breathing new life into my car. You guys are the best. Rob Hatrak 95 M3

If you remove the trunk liner on the back of the seat area, you will find that there is a welded in shear panel behind the seats. I don't think it would be a good idea to mess with the unibody to remove this panel. The good news is that it does add some stiffness to the unibody.
