Many, including me, run 255/40-17 RA-1s, etc. Although the fronts may be a problem with 15mm spacer unless you're running a lot of negative camber. Depends on the offset of your wheels. I was getting a little impatient and decided to try some mail polish remover (simply diluted Acetone with a lemony scent :) ), and with a little elbow grease, the adhesive came right off. I polish and buffed the area with Vinylex and it looks great. Thanks again! Usually when I get impatient on a project, I either fook it up or end up costing myself lots of extra money (or both!). :-) Cheers, Jim Bassett ---------------------------------------------------------------- This message was sent using IMP, the Internet Messaging Program.

#6. Drained battery - from arionatof@comcast.net

Date: Tue, 04 Jan 2005 15:20:18 +0000 From: arionatof@comcast.net Subject: Drained battery Folks, After my accident my car has sitting in front of my house waiting to be taken to the body shop (1/17). Meanwhile the battery drained because the trunk could not be closed and I couldn't get ot the battery because that area is all mashed up. I assume they are replacing the battery. Other than a dead battery, is there any other negative effect to the car? I also noticed that the odometer light is on after I turn the key. Does it run off a separate power source? Remote doesn't work because of the drained battery but I can open the front door using the key. Nevertheless, how can I open the passenger doors (I got a sedan?) I tried pulling the switch and I couldn't pull it up ... Thanks, -Johnny 98 M3/4 94K - Dead for now. -- mailto:mclee@ieee.org

You might have something going on linked to the fact the trunk doesn't close. The odometer thing is a weird one which I probably didn't notice when I lost power, maybe the battery isn't 100% dead yet, actually if all you can't do it start it well then chances are you've got a little juice left in it. The main other problem will be the need to reset the radio security code because of the loss of power. Make sure they replace the battery as normal batteries are not designed for deep discharge and recharge and will die shortly if they simply charge it. Can you get to the hood to put a charger on it at the jump connector? If so, you may be able to unlock the doors with the remote or central lock with power to the car.
