My brothers Vibe GT, I wasn't at all impressed honestly in the rain with those. On a no torque car like the vibe/matrix (celica GT motor), wheel spin in turns was very common. Dry was good, but down right unsafe in rain. Can't imagine what they would be like a on an M3 with power or any car with some real balls. -----Original Message----- From: Theodore Serbinski [mailto:stanson@gmail.com] Sent: Wednesday, January 05, 2005 12:14 PM To: E36M3 Subject: Re: [E36M3] Good Recommendation on 225/45/17 All-Season Needed Date: Wed, 5 Jan 2005 12:13:12 -0500 From: Theodore Serbinski <stanson@gmail.com> Subject: Re: [E36M3] Good Recommendation on 225/45/17 All-Season Needed I have heard very good things about the Kumhos ASXs: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Kumho&tireModel=ECSTA+ASX Once I get my car back and finish up those M contours I was restoring, I have a set of these I'm putting on. Also, you can get the 5w40 one as well if they have that in stock. I know I put this in during my last change, Walmart was out of 0w40. ted > Hello everyone, I'm due for an oil change and can't find my desired flavor > anywhere. I usually happened upon it a Walmart in the past, but not always available being stocked out at times. I've been checking now for month or so still to know avail. I'm in the philly area. Anyone have any other sources readily easy to get to? Not that I wish to get into an oil debate, but 0W-40 'does' seem to be the flavor of choice for year round usage, thus I would like to keep using this weight. #7. She's old 'n noisy! Advice? - from twisty M3

Date: Wed, 05 Jan 2005 12:48:03 -0800 From: "twisty M3" <twistym3@hotmail.com> Subject: She's old 'n noisy! Advice? Happy New Year to everyone!!! I'll be taking my car in soon for some basic maintenance, but also seem to have a growing list of things to do along with that. Car is a '99 M3 with close to 137K miles, MANY of which have been accumulated on track. On the schedule for this next visit is a simple "Oil Service," radiator change and for peace of mind I'll also be having the motor mounts changed out for the first time. I had some odd noises several weeks ago that were seemingly cleared up, but have returned. Rare that this occurs, and I believed it first to be the idle control valve, but now I'm not certain. While at idle at a stop light, say, I'll hear and feel a bit of a bang and the idle will drop and become very inconsistant (as if it's missing a cylinder or something). I'll then give it a throttle blip, just to make sure I don't stall, and the idle will slowly come back up in a grumbling fashion and then come back to normal. No loss of power at high rpm, however, and never a CE light. Any ideas?? The next thing is something that's occured at track before, but today was the first time it's happened during normal street driving. At the end of some hot track days, it sometimes sounds like I've got a supercharger whine. A high-pitched, metallic "zing" that changes based on rpm, but goes away when not in gear and only seems to occur while the car is in motion (and in gear). Today, while coming off the freeway, I had to use harder than normal braking and the sound came up again, but went away after a few blocks. Same symptoms, but no real heat in the car (10 miles of FWY driving only). Same metallic zing, but the sound went away when clutch was in or it wasn't in gear. Ideas? Suggestions on what to look for? Thanks for any and all input, Jonathan L.
