And there's some non-trivial installation involved. However this is an extremely well developed package that really delivers, without any discernable downside other than cost. I've never regretted getting it. Beyond that I'm sure that the usual suspects in BMW race engine preparation can take you as far as you want to spend. Whenever I need to use a tap, I always have a tough time figuring out which tap I need to use. Most of the time I get it right, but sometimes I screw it up. What I REALLY need it a bolt guide, like the one they have in Lowes/HD, you know, the one in the bolt section where you can thread your bolt in to tell what size and thread pitch you are looking for (both for nuts and bolts)? Does anybody know where to get these? I think this would make life much easier in the garage and same me a bunch of time. Shane K. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? There are few Bimmerforum members (www.bimmerforums.com click on Forums and then E36 M3 and do a search) who have seen up to 270hp (assuming 15% drive train loss, 236 rear wheel horses) with the following mods 1) Intake (which you already have) 2) URI- Unorthodox Racing Crank pulley (it works is good for 10 (ish) rear wheel hp) cost $175 (flame suit on). 3) M50 intake manifold (pick up one for $50-$75 at eBay and get your own parts for $50 or get the complete kit from Eurosport for $500). This mod is good for 10rw hp (car breathes much better after 5K rpms). 4) Fan delete mod and ASC delete mod (Cost me $75 in parts when I was doing my cooling system upgrade, cant say it adds much power maybe 2hp at the most ;) If done right, for under $500 in parts (assuming you did your labor yourself) you should bee good for 270 crank hp. The next 30hp is costly, you had mentioned "not spending an arm of a leg" so I don't know your price point. If 300 is a must have, then and you can save yourself the grief and just buy the Cam Kit from Eurosport for $3200. Goodluck. #7. DentFest Plans finalized.. - from Don Eilenberger

Date: Tue, 18 Jan 2005 12:47:08 -0500 From: Don Eilenberger <deilenberger@yahoo.com> Subject: DentFest Plans finalized.. Folks, I had posted the tentative plan for having a NJ "DentFest".. Here are the final plans: LOCATION: UUC Motorwerks 10 Ilene Court, Unit #5 Hillsborough, NJ 08844 WHEN: Saturday 1/29/05, 10AM-1PM (arrival times.. not everyone has to show up at 10AM..) SNOWDATE: The following weekend, same place, same times. I will make a call on snow the night before around midnight. If you have sent me an RSVP - I'll send you an email ONLY if it looks like we may have to cancel - and in the email will be how to contact me telephonically. WHO: Brian Roemer from Brian Roemer Paintless Dent Repair. Brian spent seven years at the BMW VPC (the port where new vehicles arrive from Germany) preparing them for dealer delivery. There he un-dented and un-dinged 40 new BMWs per day to get them perfect for the dealership. Recently, he prepared the 2000 E39 M5 for each of the car shows for it's introductions, pulling out dents and dings, and detailing them to like-new condition for the next show. COST: To be determined. Brian did mention giving us a break on the charges - he mentioned $60/dent, and I'm sure per panel will also be discounted. NO ONE is taking any markup on Brian's work.. so what he charges is what he'll get. WHY: Well - 'cause my new-to-me M3 came with a nice dent in upper part of one fender (tree branch according to PO) and I wanted to get the very best person around to remove it. Normally Brian travels around to high-end detailing shops who add a markup to his prices. By organizing a dentfest - we all get Brian's work at a more reasonable price. RSVP: Please email DIRECTLY TO ME if you plan on coming. Thanks to Rob Levinson for offering the use of inside heated space at the UUCMotorwerks Intergalactic Headquarters. Rob has promised coffee and donuts also. Here is a link to DentFest - but you may do better just looking it up yourself on MapQuest.. <http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?email=1&mapdata=kqnq0HTj%252frqRa9RYu%252fpt8zsMzvRI4N7A%252f8BXRiTT8vFOOoObPCuSJ66YXAyVdrJ2gQ7VtYLnGDCam9n%252fCf7Vhi%252f9URXoSKIx%252flX5rrtTKkYVFUazhpB%252bHNYWNwU67tPKWFLm933yIA4TPQvbbiJf4BGbcDhfEkQdzAYdyi7B3wmSIoB9mF7wf7glPL5PvltXsoIGzJAyKjKduCjKSAys5PuhBpcWKOocDqs5tZUjvj93S28qWDtp%252fa5OWS8VWsEQpWJx%252bNqmAv8822%252f6NChjYiJgltq5uJwc6pD7BKNFmysQxcO1V0kDy3UjbOFPNXlmCLAZs0fwAuzb88xrBRygOyNjV5ed2ffau0lfzigt92%252b3zttnvMIdM%252bWA%252fhiMtAtB26jZsztQq77E8id90MlQCy4I2FKKbJKZzFG6oBFaJdy2S6n5lMAZ0Nubvgbmmqune0i1lgSRH8PctZFkbkaJRTRItklozN7E3qSnEgRHnYlbSyZOI4IM1i9NWofl2ZN5KE%252bSdXm0i%252byDqN5rZ9i2bq5UHBN%252f9JmRLi3xTBjXhnLy0Q0992srwopGj2IvYGcFdPay1uL8Naen2MzXkeqku7WV9GdVZ700d1WPdoocFUgFKMJ1OHFLfaRdPHl7C8jE8y4%252b0uOXjl%252bb9tUHeN4i%252fQAy7e98qB08858ode80jOHHbbQllLW0b%252fumhkG2oodSFFprodpaSGphASQ%252b%252fgBUEtAXbSK9FiAKRqufmDZimjDSXeU4zvH1uTLmI6r8uYHdWfnkYpDTjsjkZWU7XNejae5hFX1Q6JNlCcDAC0buckxsJQ2fDha0IeLykdmnakh9> Hope to meet a lot of people who have only been email friends! Date: Tue, 18 Jan 2005 15:18:53 EST From: GGray657@aol.com Subject: Re: [E36M3] how to get 300 hp?? The Conforti cam kit will get you there but for the money you can get close for less. Do you want 300 at the wheel or crank? Since you have the CAI add the following. AFM Euro/540 3.5inch Pulleys, so you can run a LTW flywheel.. fan delete Manifold header SS Mid pipe resonated or with High flow cat's SS muffler, street or race LTW Flywheel, UUC Stg 2 with M5 clutch, or a lightened M5 flywheel and clutch New shark inj for above mods. 3.38 diff You may need the 24lb injectors, ford Motorsports 260 for 8...ebay. Why did I include the LTW flywheel and 3.38 diff....They make the car feel much faster, my favorite mod is the LTW flywheel, if you really try to hear it may rattle a very small amount. The only time I hear it the car is in my garage and it's echoing off the walls. My car is strong, if I am not careful on a hard launch it will light the tires up and spin in second gear, I run 235/40 Pole Position 3's. I will be dynoing my car on the 29th to get an accurate idea of where I am hp wise. I have not done cams yet because I have a spare motor. I am going to do one of the two following. 1. Headwork, dual springs cams with a built 3.5 and a custom chip. 2. Turbo running 8-10psi Both will cost about the same. The turbo will give me the ability to mod the car for more hp at a later date. A turbo car running 8.5 psi will crack 350+ at the wheels. If you want a complete bolt on turbo set up minus the intercooler I know where one is, it dynoed 385 at the rear wheels. The guy wants 4500 and may install it for you if you asked him. It needs a new intercooler and piping, car hit something..A front mount intercooler can be bought for 300-400 dollars on ebay, bar and plate style, low Psi drop across the core. The only way to crack over 300 at the wheels is a 3.5 in NA. Or a turbo. Don't rule the turbo out. The modern turbo systems are very reliable and almost lag free.
