#1. new pads + rotors, which ones? - from Theodore Serbinski

Date: Thu, 3 Feb 2005 10:43:12 -0500 From: "Wayne Miller" <m3@waynemiller.com> Subject: RE: [E36M3] wtf? - Even More So I clicked on the link to see the pictures and said, gee, that looks like Dan Law's car from the RoadFly E46M3 board but he lives in Atlanta and that car is in California. Coincidentally I happened to E-mail Dan Law with a question last night and had just received a reply from him minutes before I looked at the link. I sent him the link saying that it looked like his car and the response: "YES! Tell everyone it's bogus - I still have the car!" The story is that his car was at a shop that works on it and some people broke in one night and did a very clean job removing most of the good parts on the car - the Brembo brakes, the mirrors, steering wheel and more. Then some guy gear_bag@yahoo.com (I think that was the address) starts selling parts on the boards and there was some particular part that was unique to his car so he knew they were his parts. He tried everything but nobody was able to help in figuring out who gear_bag was. A few months later, there was another coincidence that the shop happened to be selling a silver E46M3 side mirror. I could have parts of the story a little off but I copied Dan on this. In any case, that sale is a total fake. -Wayne P.S. The car was primarily a track car so the wing was for a legit reason - not bling. -----Original Message----- From: jason [mailto:jason@doomba.com] Sent: Thursday, February 03, 2005 1:16 AM To: E36M3 Subject: [E36M3] wtf? With a 15mm spacer up front, everything fits fine. I also installed the TC Klein wheel stud kit - makes changing wheels a snap! If you are going to put race rubber on, IMHO (based on testing completed in 2000) 18's will be faster but tire selection for 17's is far better. Okay, haven't seen any posts on wheels for a while, so I figure we're about due. ;) I'm looking at getting a new (or new-to-me) set of track wheels, and would like to go a bit wider than what I currently have. I'm on 17x8 BBS RKs for the track currently and would like to move to 9" wide wheels (or 8.5 even) and will only run the same size wheels on all four corners. I'd consider going to 18s, but would probably prefer 17s based on better tire selection. Who's running 9s all the way around, and what did you have to do in front or back to accomodate? My rear fenders are rolled, but I don't mind flaring them a bit if necessary, and I've got -3.5ish degrees camber in front with -2.0 in the rear (H&R Sports and Bilsteins, no coilovers). I haven't paid much attention to what new wheels are available, and the TireRack site only shows 9" fitments with regards to the rear. Thanks, and feel free to send me your "For Sale" emails too. ;) Jonathan L. P.S. Everyone please go out and buy the March 2005 issue of IronMan Magazine, on newsstands now. ;) ;) ************************************************* Please help support the E36M3 list by visiting our sponsors: Bimmerworld http://www.bimmerworld.com Turner Motorsport http://www.turnermotorsport.com Eurosport High Performance http://www.eurosporthighperformance.com Rogue Engineering http://www.rogueengineering.com Treehouse Racing http://www.treehouseracing.com DIGEST INFORMATION: http://www.bmw-m.net/resources/digest_info.htm *************************************************

Why didn't they steal the wing too? The thief had better taste than the victim? (Cue UL about the friend of a friend in a college dorm who had all his CDs stolen, except for the $CRAPPY_ARTIST CD.) More likely, a stolen crappy aftermarket wing doesn't have enough resale value to justify the bother. -- David Ripton dripton@ripton.net

I finally got a chance to drive it. Hoo Haw!!! that is a machine!!! pros: - faster than a speeding bullet (he had the speed-chime set to 79mph -- it bonged at me exiting a corner when i'm usually 10mph less than that in my '98 with H&Rs) - the steering wheel is AWESOME FEELING (thick, grippy, the right size -- makes my stock wheel feel like a bakelite wheel from a '55 buick) - the seats are AWESOME -- so grippy and supportive in your middle. again, my seats (non-vaders) don't really feel special in comparison - brakes are FIRM. the pedal feels more like my other ex-boss's 993 C2S than my E36. lovely. cons: - kinda small feeling inside (maybe some people like that cockpit feeling) - the sound of the motor/exhaust doesn't do its power justice. my e36 with JimC intake and stock exhaust is much more powerful sounding. i highly recommend taking one out for a drive. if you don't have $50K+ to play with, getting out the car could be a painful experience... -zs --- Rex Tener <rex_tener@yahoo.com> wrote: > Date: Thu, 03 Feb 2005 00:38:07 -0800 > From: Rex Tener <rex_tener@yahoo.com> > Subject: Re: [E36M3] wtf? > > At 01:25 AM 2/3/2005 -0600, Mark Dadgar wrote: > >On Feb 2, 2005, at 11:15 PM, Scott M wrote: > >>I think he meant whattup with that ricer wing ;-) > > > >That's certainly a legitimate question. > > And the next logical question is ... A shop I'm friendly with in town (Austin, TX) has started marketing an E36 M3 turbo kit. http://www.boostlogic.com I'm not a big fan of forced induction, so I'm not going to hide my lack of knowledge. The price seems very competitive to what's currently available and from my understanding, a test mule is currently being tested. How does it seem to stack up to the other kits currently available?
