#3. Window motor? - from Michael Michalski

Date: Sat, 5 Feb 2005 12:22:11 -0600 From: "Michael Michalski" <m.michalski@comcast.net> Subject: Window motor? Speaking of a few misc items. Does anyone happen to have a window motor? My right side window is failing to operate correctly. It started with the window not going up and now when you close the door it makes a terrible grinding sound. As of today that sound has stopped and there is no motion from the window at all. I am guessing it might be the motor. What do you guys think, and if it is the motor does anyone have an extra laying around? Thanks in advance. #5. Radiator Replacement - from KResener@aol.com
Top
Date: Sat, 5 Feb 2005 17:31:10 EST From: KResener@aol.com Subject: Radiator Replacement I vowed to myself that I'd do a leisurely radiator replacement over the winter so that by the time of my first DE of the season I'd be ready. Well, a winter of avoiding the task and now my first DE of the year is looming next month, at Road Atlanta. I hear that the replacement is fairly straightforward, with the possible exception of the nut on the fan that a special wrench is required? Anyone have a write up on the procedure? I'll be doing the thermostat and housing while I'm at it and I've heard differing stories on drilling a hole in the thermostat. Thoughts on that, and what's the purpose? Thanks! #6. Right Rear Caliper guide stripped - from John Davidson
Top
Date: Sat, 05 Feb 2005 18:34:16 -0500 From: "John Davidson" <mzoom007@roadfly.org> Subject: Right Rear Caliper guide stripped Beautiful day today outside Philly so I took the time to change my worn rear brake pads. Everything came off great, cleaned up nice, put new pads on, put the caliper back on and... could not get the lower caliper guide pin back in. Tried a few times but bolt would just not go all the way in. Took caliper carrier/guide off the hub and the threads in the bottom guide hole are stripped - actually they are causing the guide bolt to go in at an angle so it only goes in about halfway and just won't go any further. Did not want to really force it and F things up worse. So, any hints, get new caliper carrier/guide or get one used? Just rethread it - if so what size is it? FWIW, it is the rear passenger side. Bolts are still fine, both will go in the other hole fine. Would a 95 M3 carrier be ok for my 97? OK, I've just got back from Europe and am chiming in way late here on something nobody cares much about anyhow (takes deep breath), but "F+S" stands for the manufacturer, Fichtel+Sachs. #10. Rear Subframe Bushings - from Chris Teague
Top
Date: Sun, 6 Feb 2005 21:03:16 -0800 From: "Chris Teague" <cteague@cox.net> Subject: Rear Subframe Bushings According to the parts book, the regular E36 has 60mm F and 62.5mm R on the rear subframe, and the E36 M3 has 62.5mm F and R. But all the aftermarket suppliers (powerflex, turner, www.bmwbushings.com, etc.) show just one fitment for all E36 cars. Is the parts book wrong, or is there a way to make a universal front bushing for the rear subframe? Chris 97 M3/4
