If you don't mind, could you explain what contact points you greased up? In my rush to put the pads on for a track weekend, I didn't apply any CRC Brake Quiet, so I'm planning on tackling the CRC, pad bind, and solid caliper bushing install all at once. Thanks again! Michael - I have one (actually four), still in the doors that I removed from my 2 foot shorter '98 M3/4 I backed into a cement median at a fairly decent clip... Lots of other parts available too - just no time to list them. If anyone needs anything, let me know. I'm traveling until Friday, but you can always give me a call if you don't want to wait. Speaking of a few misc items. Does anyone happen to have a window motor? My right side window is failing to operate correctly. It started with the window not going up and now when you close the door it makes a terrible grinding sound. As of today that sound has stopped and there is no motion from the window at all. I am guessing it might be the motor. What do you guys think, and if it is the motor does anyone have an extra laying around? Thanks in advance. Michael Michalski

Date: Mon, 7 Feb 2005 21:20:06 -0500 From: "jaykenty" <jaykenty@cox.net> Subject: E36 M3 Weird Steering I noticed today that as soon as I turn the wheel off center, I feel some stiff resistance. I can steer the wheel back to center, but there no longer seems to be any self-centering action. Feels the same in both directions. Any ideas what could be going wrong? There no longer seems to be any self-centering action once the wheel is in this "stiff" region. Feels the same in both directions. I think the power steering is still working because the wheel is not nearly as heavy as I have experienced on total loss of power steering (not in an M3 I admit). Any ideas what could be going wrong? You need to turn the unit over and take the back plat off to inspect it. Oh wait a minute, that's the wheel for the Playstation 2. Sorry. :-P Mel -----Original Message----- From: jaykenty [mailto:jaykenty@cox.net] Sent: Monday, February 07, 2005 8:33 PM To: E36M3 Subject: [E36M3] E36 M3 Weird Steering Date: Mon, 7 Feb 2005 21:28:02 -0500 From: "jaykenty" <jaykenty@cox.net> Subject: E36 M3 Weird Steering On and near center the steering feels normal, but as soon as I turn the wheel off center, I feel some abnormal resistance. #9. R&R tranny mounts on a '95: Any way to avoid removing the exhaust? - from Kurt Hoofnagle
Top
Date: Mon, 7 Feb 2005 21:41:40 -0800 (PST) From: Kurt Hoofnagle <kurthoofnagle@yahoo.com> Subject: R&R tranny mounts on a '95: Any way to avoid removing the exhaust? While I had my still-new-to-me 95 up on stands this weekend to change the tranny fluid, I had *hoped* to also install my new tranny mounts. It seems that on my 95, the exhaust runs close enough to the passenger side bolts on the support brace that I cannot fit a socket and ratchet handle in there (even with the heat shield loose and as much out of the way as possible). I'm hoping that someone more mechanically creative than me has figured out a clever way to get these bolts out without removing my 10 year old exhaust with original hardware (stop laughing now, please). One thought that crossed my mind was to partially drop the exhaust by removing the exhaust bracket and hangers and supporting it, but letting it "droop" a bit--just enough to get to these bolts. Anyone BTDT? Many thanks! Kurt

Unfortunately I can not find the messages. Does anyone know where they can be purchased? Thanks, Lee '95 Violet M3
