It seems that a lot of folks have them laying around and I received a number of very reasonable offers. I have one coming my way from a list member now and really appreciate the help. Hopefully the M3 won't be bouncing like an old Buick by Monday. If anyone else needs a spring compressor let me know and I can point you towards a couple of guys that have them. Kevin

Hopefully the M3 won't be >bouncing like an old Buick by Monday. I wanted to comment on those yesterday but I didn't get a chance to. Anyhow a buddy of mine ordered a set of those Harbor Freight clam shell ones and IIRC they were crap. Really awkward to use, poor quality, etc. So far my favorite spring compressors have been the Autozone ones so I bought a set. Also $40. YMMV of course. Carlos.

John Date: Mon, 7 Feb 2005 21:20:06 -0500 From: "jaykenty" <jaykenty@cox.net> Subject: E36 M3 Weird Steering I noticed today that as soon as I turn the wheel off center, I feel some stiff resistance. I can steer the wheel back to center, but there no longer seems to be any self-centering action. Feels the same in both directions. Any ideas what could be going wrong? #5. Stock '95 M3 springs source? - from Steve Klein

Date: Tue, 8 Feb 2005 12:34:07 -0600 From: Steve Klein <klein@robinsonad.com> Subject: Stock '95 M3 springs source? Hi, Gang- Now that my freelance business is heading in the right direction, one of the things I've got planned for my car is to return to stock springs. When I put the Koni SA's on, I also went with the HR OE Sports which had a *slight* drop which I don't mind, but they are progressive in nature and despite being touted as 15-25% stiffer, feel much softer and let the car wallow on weight transfer. I really miss the linear feel of the stock springs and I'm wondering if there is a particular source that has decent prices on them. Unfortunately, my originals became part of a sculpture built by a friend whose shop I used. Thanks, Steve

(I've had three different diffs in the race car, and reused the bolts each time.) Jim Bassett

#10. E36 M3 Euro Exhaust Questions and Help - from Bill P
Top
Date: Tue, 8 Feb 2005 19:21:47 -0500 From: "Bill P" <billpanop@suscom.net> Subject: E36 M3 Euro Exhaust Questions and Help I am going to install a set of Euro E36 M3 headers and a Euro M3 cat section this weekend on my US E36 M3. I have a few questions. The Euro cat section is definitely heavier by at least 15 pounds, is this because the Euro cat section uses the better flowing metal substrate catalysts? From what I have been told, the metal substrate catalysts flow better then stock US honeycomb catalysts, is this true? If so how much better? The reason I am asking is because it will be just as easy (and much cheaper in the long run) for me to tie into my stock "gutted" cat section. However I am worried that this will choke the headers as the stock cat section (although gutted) is much smaller diameter (~49 mm) then the Euro pipes (~60 mm). Also if anyone has seen the stock US section it gets pretty small where in merges into one pipe before the cats. I figure it would be cool if the Euro cat section flows better and I am legal to boot. Bill P PS Supersprint actually makes a "metal kat" for the Euro E36 M3. The stock Euro Cats are stamped BMW but another name is stamped on them that starts with a "B" something ??? . I forget the whole name.
