Ahhh... the seals I read about are for *steering fluid*. That makes me feel better. Though I'm still concerned with why one side has a ton of grease (which seemed normal to me when I saw it) and the other side is spotless. I wonder if there's another seal for keeping the grease in the rack? There is plunger of sorts in the middle of the rack that has fluid pressure from both sides which provide the power assist. So there are wiper seals that would mean the right side should be fairly spotless. #5. O2 Sensor - from Gregory C. Fuller

Date: Thu, 10 Feb 2005 19:28:53 -0600 From: "Gregory C. Fuller" <gcfuller@aol.com> Subject: O2 Sensor Shane - On a '94, any old sensor with the right # of wires should work. If they are the same color wires, this should be easy. OBD1 cars, in my experience, are easy to use universal sensors with. OBDII cars ('96 and later) CAN be very picky. I learned this on my '97 540, which didn't like ANYTHING but the factory sensor (tried a bunch - the computer kept telling me the heater resistance - of all things (its a HEATER!!!), was off by a ohm or two...) I never had problems with other cars. Let me know how many wires your o2 sensor has, I have 5 or six new or darn close to new sensors collecting dust in my toolbox. I might have one that may work. I got a new exhaust and I couldn't get the old one out of the old exhaust so I sold it with the thing attached. Where's the best place to get one of these, and is there any generic O2 sensor that I could use in it's stead? The connector went with the exhaust so I might need one of those to make a generic work. #8. New tie rods... - from Som Naderi

Date: Fri, 11 Feb 2005 09:29:23 -0800 From: "Som Naderi" <som@dimensionracing.com> Subject: New tie rods... Well, I've finished putting my tie rods on and oh-my-god what a difference. Not only is the steering significantly more precise, the car feels *solid* going over bumps/cracks in the ground. No more clanging sounds! One last quick question. To avoid getting the front-end aligned, I lined up the new tie rods side-by-side with the old ones prior to putting them on. I made sure they were the same lengths. Should this be good enough to avoid getting the front aligned again? (I just got it aligned a month ago) Now my steering wheel needs to be turned to about 1 o'clock to get the car to go straight. Is this easy to fix? Is it just a matter of the tie rods being set incorrectly (left too short, right too long) or did something else happen while I was putting them on? Thanks for the help! - Som '98 Coupe Next up, lying in my room waiting to be installed: sway bars stainless steel brake lines oil pressure/temp sensors/gauge AC microfilter
