The rig, racecar, and contents of the trailer were recovered. I don't know in what condition, or whether anything was missing. Here's the cut and paste from the local Solo 2 list: <<The stolen Semi Tractor Truck and Porsche Race Car have been recovered by officers from the Brighton Police Department and Adams County Sheriff's Department. The Adams County Communications Department received two calls from citizens reporting the location of the vehicle after the citizens saw the news coverage and photographs of the stolen vehicle. The vehicle was found at 16891 East 160th Avenue in Brighton. Detectives from the Broomfield Police Department responded to process the vehicle. The Broomfield Police would like to thank everyone for their help. Within minutes of the news coverage, this vehicle and its contents were recovered. >> -----Original Message----- Subject: Re: [E36M3] FW: STOLEN RACE CAR AND RIG!! Let me know whatcha got, whatcha want and where ya live. ;) Thanks, Jonathan L.

Just so happens that I was about to post my old track setup: a set of four 17x8.5" M Double Spoke II's (stock wheels on 96+ non-lux M3's) with some old Hoosier 245/40 RS303s. (maybe 1 track day left on 'em, or a couple autocrosses). Still trying to figure out what a good price would be, open to offers and suggestions. I had a bit of rubbing on the struts when I had H&R Coilovers on the car, I haven't tried them with the current Dinan suspension and do not know if you'd need spacers for your specific configuration. Two of the wheels are in good condition, two have some curb rash, and I can have pictures by this weekend if there's interest. I also have 2 extra 17x7.5 M-Double Spoke II's for sale, no tires on 'em, decent condition, I think one has some rash (haven't looked at 'em in a LONG time). Again, I can have pictures by this weekend if there's interest. Wheels/tires are located in the SF Bay Area. #7. Intermittent Idle Riddle - from Mark Greer
Top
Date: Wed, 23 Feb 2005 12:24:19 -0500 (EST) From: "Mark Greer" <mark.greer@excite.com> Subject: Intermittent Idle Riddle I've searched the archives, but didn't see this. When started cold, engine idles smooth. No lopping, surging or seeking. However, if engine is killed [or shut off] it won't maintain idle. Thereafter, the engine starts & immediately dies. Smooth idle typically returns after engine warms up. Next cold Start, engine will idle fine. This happens summer & winter. The workaround has been to never shut engine off until it's hot. Yesterday, however, the engine started & died, wouldn't idle on the drive home, & did the same thing after sitting overnight. It's now holding idle, but at only 500 RPM; normal is about 650 RPM. Time to fix something. What do you think is in need of repair? Additionally: 1997 M3 Sedan, Manual transmission 154000 mostly highway miles Fuel mileage has been stable @ ~26 mpg. Errors indicate secondary air pump is failing (but idle issue is older). Has new engine air filter. --- _______________________________________________ Join Excite! - http://www.excite.com The most personalized portal on the Web!

#8. Battery Dies After 5 Days of Non-use - from mzealot@bellsouth.net
Top
Date: Wed, 23 Feb 2005 14:54:05 -0500 From: <mzealot@bellsouth.net> Subject: Battery Dies After 5 Days of Non-use The '98 M3/4 has a fairly new battery (within I year new). I left the car sit for 5 days and the battery was dead. No lights were left on or any other devices that could have drained it in that time. Are there any particular items to check? I thought I had seen some threads about this phenomenon from time to time. I understand that the battery could be prematurely going bad. BTW, I'm in Florida. Thanks for any ideas or information. Date: Wed, 23 Feb 2005 20:48:33 EST From: LoweSeaton@aol.com Subject: Re: [E36M3] Battery Dies After 5 Days of Non-use Bruce, I don't think you have enough experience to tell much at this time. It could be due to any dozen things. The battery could be defective. It happens. Within 1 year, I am sure you could get a free replacement so no cost. You might have left the lights on and not know it. Or you could have a short that will drain you battery again. Or it might not have been fully charged when you parked it if you have not driven your M3 much in the last month. I recommend fully charging the battery. Put it on a trickle charger for about 24 hrs. Then watch and see. If your battery goes dead in a day or two, most likely the battery is defective. Or if next time you park your M for a week and the battery is dead, you may have a short circuit someplace. That will be harder to track down. I fought a battery drain for 2 years in my M3. Turned out I had a bad diode in the alternator. It would work intermittently. Sometimes my alternator was only putting out 8 volts, other times full 14 volts. I killed one battery in less than 53 weeks (1 day after my 1 yr free replacement ran out!) and could not park my M for more than 2 days without a dead battery. I thought I had a short circuit but nobody could find it. And I had the alternator tested 2 times and it tested fine. Third test on the alternator finally showed its true colors. Once I replaced the alternator, my battery has been holding a charge fine. So... charge you battery up and drive normally. If you have a dead battery again, then start looking for a cause.
