Jack's car is an all out race car, can't be driven slowly and it's actually difficult to handle if you drive it on the track slowly. If you can fly, then that's when it handles well. It takes a very skilled driver to drive that car. I actually turned down driving it at a school and I'm sure Neil Maller is thankful for that. ;-) My race car will be much slower and a little closer to my skill level. Jack's car can easily run 1:15s at Putnam when most A students (the fast ones) probably lap at 1:24s. I think Larry did a 1:13.8 in qualifying at some point. I bet that supercharged car with the interior in it is quieter also. :-P Carlos. (ridden in that car with Larry behind the wheel... scary) :-)

#6. Ack! Sunroof stuck wide open! - from Steve Klein

Date: Fri, 4 Mar 2005 12:56:05 -0600 From: Steve Klein <klein@robinsonad.com> Subject: Ack! Sunroof stuck wide open! Hey, Gang- I'm in the process of searching the archives, but I want to strike fast and hard. I just pulled in from an errand and to my dismay, the sunroof (which I let open fully with the one-touch feature) refused to move forward. I tried the open button again and the forward, but nothing. Key in the door lock makes a sound from the front of the headliner area (where the motor is, correct?), but nothing. Any thoughts or wisdom on what has gone wrong? I can pull the panel with the sunroof switch to access the motor and I believe there is a hex post to let me close it manually, but if there is something stuck that's a moot approach, right? Any and all help is greatly appreciated. I'm on digest mode, so a direct reply would be welcomed. Thanks, Steve

#7. Ground Control Suspension Question. - from Mo Karamat

Date: Fri, 04 Mar 2005 14:00:28 -0500 From: Mo Karamat <karamatm@optonline.net> Subject: Ground Control Suspension Question. Bill, Hello, hope all is well. I just ordered the track/school coil over kit, and should receive it today! As per Dale's suggestion, I ordered the 440 fr, and 545 rear springs, as well as the hybrid camber plates. As soon as I install it, I will shoot you some feedback. Mo 98 E36 M3/4 91 325IX 83 323i Euro - Project car. Date: Thu, 3 Mar 2005 10:43:17 -0500 From: "Townsend, William" <wtownsen@enterasys.com> Subject: Ground Control Suspension Question. So I am thinking of the race version GC package from Bimmerworld since my M has 80K+ on the original suspension. (don't want ot go cut-n-gut method, want the camber plates and the adjustable dampers so the race package has all that) Had a couple questions for the list. I will be driving the car to DE events and some nice day to work drives but is mostly a track car. No winter driving. Do about 15 DE/yr. No intention to race the car, have about 40 track days now. Running RA1's (235/40-17 on 8.5 factory rims on all 4) and the stock factory suspension eats the outsides like candy. (read - not enough negative camber) Anyone had one of these for a while? Impressions? I am guessing I will need front wheel spacers, what size have worked with this setup? So, what spring rates have seemed to work on this set up? I run in the north east mostly and Mont Tremblant (Canada). Anyone had trouble with adjusting the rear perches? I plan to corner balance the car but I am concerned about the rear adjustable perches. Seems like the GC perches go at the bottom of the spring making them VERY hard to get to. Anyone run into this doing it themselves? My 328 has the Bilstein PSS kit with the perch at the bottom and this was a royal pain in the a** to adjust. Had to drop the rear suspension for every adjustment. General set up opinions are also welcome! Thanks, --Bill 96 M3 Coupe red

Well, you won't know until you try, right? :-) I would doubt there's a physical blockage (just my WAG), so you should be able to at least move the sunroof a bit with the hex tool in your trunk kit. Also, check your Owner's Manual, there may be some info on manually moving the sunroof there as well. But, I think if you just move it a bit manually, you should be able to then move it with the switch, and reset the "stops". Good luck, Jim Bassett - vaguely remembers having a similar problem a few years ago

Just got back and did exactly what you mentioned. I used a hex wrench to see if the roof would indeed move or was blocked, and to my surprise, it actually came forward freely. The switch worked just fine to move it the rest of the way, so I'm guessing there's a position switch that it went past, or a confused stop as you mentioned. I DO need to lubricate it again, but I'll have to figure out how to get the rear sliders since the fronts are all I can see to access. Thanks to all for your advice and input!
