But if it puts out extra heat, the base of the housing is likely to melt and deform. This happens all the time. Well, would you believe there's a factory option? :-) At least, it was available a few year's ago - mine was sourced through Bekker's. Factory mount & extinguisher, mounts under the driver's seat. I've had mine in the M3 for 5+ years. My ETK isn't handy right now, and I can't seem to locate it on RealOEM.com. I can try to locate the p/n at home later. I'm sure there are other solutions out there, but in this case "nothing fits like factory" IMO :-) Cheers, Jim Bassett

Not necessarily answering your question, but I've had no problems with fresh, factory mounts on the race car (I'm assuming that's the application :-)). My 2 cents (OK, maybe only 1 :-)), Jim Bassett 1998 M3/4 1993 325is #44 JP - Rogue trans mounts, stock motor mounts

#4. PEAKE SRS reset tool - from Joe Huie

This is the second time it's happened (first was last year for bumper impact sensor per dealer, second now for driver seat belt tensioner I think). I want to reset it and see if this last incident is just a false reading like the first one. Thanks. Joe

There are two holes/slots that you use speed nuts on so you don't have to access the backside of the seat bottom. > > -------------------- 3 -------------------- > Date: Sun, 06 Mar 2005 23:46:23 -0500 > From: Mo Karamat <karamatm@optonline.net> > Subject: How to mount a fire extinguisher w/o butchering the car? > > Dear All, > > Hello. Apparently the choices are Gruppe N, Ireland urethane, and solid aluminum. Since the car will be a race car and never street driven I've decided to go solid mounts on everything (motor, trans, diff), no ITS plans for me. The parts are already available to me locally, the front subframe will get reinforced. Looks like the car is going towards Dmod and not J-prepared. D'oh! Carlos. (with probably the only D-mod car on the autoxer budget) :-)

Yeah, but remember the first rule of auto fire extinguishers: Only use the dry powder kind on other people's cars. For your own you want halon/halotron. #10. euro 3.5" HFM worth it? - from Theodore Serbinski

Date: Mon, 7 Mar 2005 16:59:06 -0500 From: Theodore Serbinski <stanson@gmail.com> Subject: euro 3.5" HFM worth it? Guys, so there is this great GB on the AFE CAI over at BFC: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?p=3794393 (wow talk about acronym usage, haha). Great deal but it got me thinking, at one point I will want to do the M50 upgrade. However, I'm still wondering if the Euro 3.5" HFM would be worthwhile as well? I've heard the gains aren't too great there for us S52'ers. So should I jump in on this deal and not worry about doing 3.5" or wait till AFE makes a 3.5" one? Rather plan things out logically then waste money. Hmmm, thoughts? ted
