What's the real story? > >Mel >www.melsilva.net The real story is: http://www.finemotoring.com/ Toshiba apparently doesn't directly sell the bulbs in the US. I have read you can get them from Dodge for the Viper at something like $120/each. That's not a bargain. Dunno what BMW gets for them for the Z8.. haven't priced them but willing to bet they are not a bargain there either. John Deere supposedly carries them for some model tractor, but dunno which one so I haven't been able to track down a price from them. Based on some other parts Deere has in common with 2-wheeled BMWs (electrical parts) - they aren't the low price source. The chap running the site above imports them himself and does the small modification to the tab on them so they fit into the standard 900# socket. He is a BMW enthusiast - which might make him fly by night, but he's been very responsive to me. I usually prefer to deal with an enthusiast if I can, and I don't expect he's getting rich fast with the price he's charging for them. His name is Bill Fox - seems a nice enough fellow. Say HI for me if you order anything.. And I'd be very interested in your feedback on them. I would like to add some to the article.. Date: Mon, 07 Mar 2005 23:35:49 -0500 From: Neil Maller <neil.maller@gte.net> Subject: Car cover Anyone have recommendations for a car cover? I need something for indoor storage only. The M3 will be in an industrial space and requires protection from dust, but not weather. I've seen "BMW Noah" covers advertised for around $130, but know nothing about them. The car isn't going into the Ark. Neil Fort Wayne, IN 96 M3 - Bastard child 03 525iT - Sterling Grey Metallic 77 MGB - Original owner, need to sell 05 Mini - Cooper S with LSD!

And it allows you to carry all kind of neat stuff you can't get in your car...like a nice pop up tent...And the best thing when you get home all you have to do is unhook it instead of unloading a packed car.... Yeah I know, I have friends who use these. However I'm short on storage space for a trailer, although I may be able to work around that. So maybe I should step back and revisit that whole subject. Something like this: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=90153 plus a welded-on tire rack and a weatherproof box might do the job nicely enough. With 4 track wheels/tires, a spare trailer tire, tools, etc. I'd think the all up weight would be into the 500-600 lb area, which doesn't seem unreasonable for an M3 to tow. Is Da-Lan still the hitch to have? Neil Fort Wayne, IN 96 M3 - Bastard child 03 525iT - Sterling Grey Metallic 77 MGB - Original owner, need to sell 05 Mini - Cooper S with LSD!

I've been considering two basic options: 1) Hardboard/padding/carpet as you described. 2) Reusing the stock seat pan by removing its vinyl skin, cutting down the moulded foam's thickness until the top is flat, then carpeting. (Might also require a thin hardboard under the carpet for strength.) This would have the advantage of keeping the clip mounting method, and not require me to develop any expertise in moulding by own foam. I'd have to score a racer's discarded rear seat, since I'm for damn sure not going to carve up my own, which is pristine. For the folding seat backs I'd remove the cushions entirely and keep just the structure, then pad thinly and carpet. Or maybe I'll get a tire trailer... I have the same request as Neil but I need one that protects a car outdoors. My E36 does not have any windows so I'd like to keep the interior dry when leaving the car overnight at a race track and there's rain involved. Thanks, Carlos.

If price isn't an issue, go with an all weather cover like the Noah. It costs more but you'd probably use it elsewhere. I have a Noah cover and it fits pretty good. I think it'd fit better without a rear wing though. -Bobby > -----Original Message----- > From: Neil Maller > > > Anyone have recommendations for a car cover?
