#1. Switching to CD43 Head Unit? - from twisty M3

The #5 preset has "collapsed" somewhat, and will automatically change to that station on its own or program whatever I'm listening to onto that button (whilst not allowing me to change stations without punching the 5/6 button). I've been reading the archives and seeing the the CD43 is a plug-n-play replacement. Would I still be able to power the factory 6-disk changer as well, or would I now be limited to the single in-dash player only? Also, does anyone happen to have the part number handy so I can look into non-Ebay pricing (for comparison's sake, if nothing else). Thanks, Jonathan L.

The CD43 is indeed plug and play and has the ibus for CD changer control. I had the CD43 after my bmw business radio lights went out. Expect to pay 300-400 for the CD43 privately IIRC. The CD43 sounds much better than the OEM unit btw, and the features are very easy to use etc. Patrick Goss 97 M3/4 Former CD43, now HK traffic pro -----Original Message----- From: twisty M3 [mailto:twistym3@hotmail.com] Sent: Tuesday, March 15, 2005 12:51 PM To: E36M3 Subject: [E36M3] Switching to CD43 Head Unit? I have the HK upgrade system in my 98 M3. Would the CD43 head unit have better sound than the one I've got, or is the advantage just the in-dash CD player? Reed/Seattle

I downloaded the demo last night and started attempting to drive the Saleen S7R (not sure if this is the only car in the demo or not). First impressions are good. It's worth getting the demo at least. I don't have a wheel for my PC anymore so I used a joystick, but physics model seems good so far. I haven't been able to complete a lap without spinning or going 4 wheels off, but I'll work on that. In fact, it's the only playstation game I own. For the PC, check out GTR. It's supposed to be the new king of realistic driving games. The demo is available now and is supposed to be released in the US at the end of the month. www.gtr-game.com Jeremy Lucas 95 M3

It needs to be ugly and/or cheap... and available for pickup before next Friday near Philly. I need 4 wheels of the same size to keep my backup track rubber on - since I switched brands and bought 4... and the old ones ain't all-the-way done... the new ones need to get mounted somehow so I don't have to call it quits after a day to go find a tire shop. I got 3 of one size and 2 of the other. Ain't that always the way? -- Walter

There are paddle shift buttons on the back of the wheel so the shifter is optional -- whichever you prefer.
