The dealer does sell a 5 sided removal tool, but I have heard that you can shove in a tiny hex key and pull it that way. 2.5mm sticks in my head, try that one. Or mebbe a jeweler's screwdriver would work. Andrej

#8. "Jet Hot" Shorty Headers question - from Hunt Hodgetts
Top
Date: Wed, 23 Mar 2005 17:45:17 -0800 (PST) From: Hunt Hodgetts <hhodgetts@yahoo.com> Subject: "Jet Hot" Shorty Headers question I recently purchased a set of jet hot equal length shorty headers for my supercharged 95 M3. In examining them, I noticed numerous burrs and blobs of soder inside the headers from the welding process. Would these have an adverse affect on the flow of exhaust? Should I take the headers to a machine shop and have the inside polished to remove them or am I worrying about something that isn't really going to make any difference? Problem is - a "hex" key by default has 8 sides (as in hexagon).. whereas the key used to unscrew the BMW radio has 5. That said - I've taken more than one out using a standard Allen wrench that just about fits. _______D_o_n__________S_p_r_i_n_g__L_a_k_e__H_t_s____________ Don Eilenberger, Spring Lk Hts, NJ NJ SHore BMW Riders - http://www.njsbmwr.org/ E39 Enthusiasts Group - http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bmwe39/ '03 525iT, '98 M3C/5, '87 K75S

That probably depends upon how much you really want to spend for that fraction of a HP. Unless it's really bad I doubt it'll make a measurable difference. -- Jamie Howton 2000 M5 1995 M3 Hampshire, IL
