For those that go to true coilover rear, it's usually done with a rollcage that extends all the way to the rear shock mount. The typical rear "coilover" setup includes an adjustable ride heigh perch and some form of spring to go in the same exact area the stock spring goes. I believe the rear of the E39 had a true coilover in the rear from the factory! Yeah, what you are missing is the fact that the rear "coil-overs" 99% of us are referring to aren't true coil-overs, they aren't coil-overs at all, you still have only the shock attached to the rear shock mount and the spring in the same location. The only true coil-overs ever used on E36s are those when the cage ties into the rear shock towers and the shock towers are significantly beefed up. Regards, Rich '95 M3 - TCK DA Suspension

I bought a set of these headers when they first came out and didn't see much welding spatter or slag left in mine. The coating was pretty good too. Biggest issues I had were that one of them almost touched the block, and they didn't line up perfectly to the downpipe. The saddest part is I still haven't fired the car up since I put them on :( -- Roger Jamie Howton <jhowton@gmail.com> wrote: >>Should I take the headers to a machine shop and have >>the inside polished to remove them or am I worrying >>about something that isn't really going to make any >>difference? >> >> > >That probably depends upon how much you really want to spend for that >fraction of a HP. It's a terminology thing. Coilovers as sold for our cars don't relocate the rear spring, they just add a height adjuster.
