#5. Re: [E36M3] new clutch - from Steven Tom

Date: Thu, 31 Mar 2005 07:34:22 -0800 From: Steven Tom <stom@qualcomm.com> Subject: Re: [E36M3] new clutch I got the UUC stg 2 with Sachs disk. I love it. I was worried about clutch noise and usability and I've none of these issues so far. There is a slight noise if you have the AC on or have the windows down sitting in your garage. The sound is similar to an insulated coffee can full of marbles slowly turning. As for the take up, the engagement point and take up are a little different and will take about 1k miles to get used to but the holding power far exceeds the stock clutch. I can still drive in first gear at 800-1000rpms in traffic without problem. Also you will notice an extremely light pedal pressure in the beginning. In fact, I would say it's about 1/10 the pressure of the stock pedal. It's a bit unnerving at first but sitting in San Diego traffic stop and go is easier on the leg and foot. I have about 10k miles on the clutch so far w/o problems and the pedal effort has stiffened up a bit to about 1/2 of stock. Let me know if you have any other questions. steve At 08:19 PM 3/30/2005, Ticalian57@aol.com wrote: >Date: Wed, 30 Mar 2005 23:13:46 EST >From: Ticalian57@aol.com >Subject: new clutch > >Time for a new clutch any suggestions on a high performance after market >clutch? > > >************************************************* >Please help support the E36M3 list by visiting our sponsors: > >Bimmerworld http://www.bimmerworld.com >Turner Motorsport http://www.turnermotorsport.com >Eurosport High Performance http://www.eurosporthighperformance.com >Rogue Engineering http://www.rogueengineering.com >Treehouse Racing http://www.treehouseracing.com > >DIGEST INFORMATION: >http://www.bmw-m.net/resources/digest_info.htm >*************************************************

#6. Water temp sender location - from Vern Anderson
Top
Date: Thu, 31 Mar 2005 07:39:23 -0800 (PST) From: Vern Anderson <vernon_anderson@yahoo.com> Subject: Water temp sender location I have added an actual water temp gauge to my 98 M3 race car, but I'm struggling with the sender location. I initially tried installing the sender in what I thought was a return line in the rear of the engine, but I think it is instead a heater line, as the gauge now only works with the heater is functioning (not so smart by me :(. Any advice on how/where to best install an water temp sender? I'm not certain if the gauge I have can somehow utilize the stock water temp sender for the ECU/DME/dash gauge. Thanks! Vern Anderson

#8. Leaking Windshield Washer fluid reservoir - from Andrej Dolenc
Top
Date: Thu, 31 Mar 2005 11:11:25 -0500 From: Andrej Dolenc <adolenc@erols.com> Subject: Leaking Windshield Washer fluid reservoir Gruppe, I finally identified the source of a fluid leak on my '97 M3 - the windshield washer reservoir. Incontinence in it's old age? Who knows. Besides, didn't think it's that old of a car! Anyway, when looking down at the tank, on the right side there's a long (2-3") black cylinder. According to the parts list, that's the pump itself. The leak seems to be coming from the base of that, where that attaches to the reservoir itself. Anybody been there done that already? Does the pump itself develop a leak, or do the various gasgets wear out? Thanks in advance, Andrej '97 M3
