It seems like one could just drill and tap the stock part if you were so inclined. tom

All of them seem to be well within standard deviation, correct, though all are at or below the values of the new (different?) springs. I'd be tempted to buy enough spring that I could sample enough to standardize 24. I wonder if these guys can offer closer tolerances. http://www.bpeheads.com/partsbmw.htm Kim L Burgess -------------------- 10 -------------------- Date: Thu, 31 Mar 2005 11:12:47 -0800 From: Andrew Kalman <aek@pumpkininc.com> FYI, I measured the springs that came out of my '95 M3 LWT in order to decide to reuse them or use all new springs (either stock or from KPMI). Also note that the new springs are marked with two color dots (yellow, brown) whereas the old ones are marked with three (yellow, white, brown). They are silver lettering/carbon fiber background. Here is a link to verify retail pricing... http://www.pure-motorsport.com/products/description.php/II=77/CA=408/PA=10 These are from the BBS RK wheels for my race car and have never been used. If anybody is interested in these caps, please contact me privately. Thanks. R. Bruce Shafer

Re: >How does actual free spring height affect the installed and >installed/compressed load values? Don't assume anything on free heights (though they all measured the same). You really need to check them out on a spring tester at compressed heights. >All of them seem to be well within standard deviation, correct, though >all are at or below the values of the new (different?) springs. I'd be >tempted to buy enough spring that I could sample enough to standardize >24. Well, +/- 2 at installed height and +/- 5 at compressed height are reasonable numbers. It could be that my springs have settled slightly (17,000 miles, mostly race track), or perhaps the newer, two-dots-only springs are very slightly stiffer. I was debating whether to get the Hi-Po kit or just the radiator. Do you think we could mix & match? My fan clutch is going and I think they're kinda pricey. I could just do the fan delete I guess. Was that $400 price including shipping? I'm in Indy so I could just pick mine up and maybe save a few more bucks. Let me know what you guys are going to do. Rocks. Yep. BTW, be sure to ground the sender as the adapter is isolated. I used some safety wire (ahh heck, I might as well send/post the picture anyway :-)). Jim Bassett

My first obvious question would be: Are you sure there isn't a clutch stop installed? I know on my M3 the clutch engages/dis-engages fairly close to the floor with the stop installed. Without it my leg would get tired from the length of travel. YMMV. Jeff '96 M3 - Bastard year. Date: Wed, 30 Mar 2005 16:41:48 -0800 (PST) From: Matt Weimer <mjweimer@yahoo.com> Subject: Introduction and Question Gruppe, I have been lurking on the list now for several weeks and thought I would introduce myself... I purchased a stock Alpineweiss/Schwarz '95 M3 several weeks ago with 110k and extensive maintenance records, still running the original radiator (!) and water pump. The only items that need attention, other than the rad/H2O pump replacement and an issue with the bumpstops on the Bilstein Sports, is that the clutch pedal engages very close to the floor. Is this indicative of a worn clutch or is there something else I should be looking into? There is evidence in the records of regular brake fluid replacement/bleeding. So far other than some really minor issues the car is great fun. Glad to be part of this list. Matt Weimer Hoosier Chapter '88 325iS '95 M3
