#1. HPS Data point - from Patrick Kelly
Top
Date: Thu, 28 Apr 2005 11:32:39 -0400 From: "Patrick Kelly" <pkelly@agincourtcapital.com> Subject: HPS Data point Just another data point, but I've had the HPS' on my '95 daily driver for more than a year now and I love 'em. Three driving schools and still plenty of pad left. No squealing, no discernable fade at the track (but I'm just a "C" student), much less dust than stockers. Not *quite* the initial bite as the stock pads, but better in every other way. I just wish I had put them on the wife's E39 with those 2-piece BBS "Sport Model" wheels instead of the stock pads. What a nightmare those are to clean! Pat Kelly pkelly@agincourtcapital.com

I use slotted euro front and stock rear rotors. I bought them to alleviate the squealing problem that I was having with the stock front pads. As a side, they also eliminated the heavy dusting caused by the high graphite content in the stock pads. I do think they have a little more delay to max torque in wet conditions, but I just keep this on my mind during wet highway driving. Jeremy

#4. M50 Manifold Issues - The Answer! - from Mo Karamat
Top
Date: Thu, 28 Apr 2005 12:45:32 -0400 From: Mo Karamat <karamatm@optonline.net> Subject: M50 Manifold Issues - The Answer! Dear All, Thanks to Everyone who so kindly responded. The answer is that there is a difference between how the M50 manifold & the OBDI throttle body mate together, and how the s52 manifold and the OBDII throttle body connect. You cannot just screw together the M50 manifold and a OBDII (well you can, but you will create a massive air leak! :)) A plate is neede to mate the to together.. So I could make it to my weekend track event, we temporarily fixed it, and the car runs great... For those who have asked, after getting the car on the track this weekend, I will report back if I felt a difference in the performance. Thanks Again! Hope this helps anyone else thinking about the upgrade.. Mo

#5. Error codes revisited - from Peter Fanning

Date: Thu, 28 Apr 2005 10:49:59 -0700 From: Peter Fanning <pbfanning@comcast.net> Subject: Error codes revisited A couple weeks ago I posted the following message trying to fix a repeated CEL. >Our '98 M3/4 has thrown E3 (Oxygen sensor adaptation limit, Cyl 1-3) and >CA (Oxygen sensor control limit, Cyl 1-3) codes. I replaced all four >oxygen sensors at about 105k miles, it now has 115k. One thought is that >it's related to the emissions control valve, since the car threw a >secondary air system fault a couple months ago. After checking that the >pump works and cleaning the intake hose I haven't received that code >again. Any help is appreciated. I ran out of troubleshooting talent and took the car to a reputable independent for professional help. They've had the car a couple days and are having difficulty pinpointing the problem. If anyone has ideas about the problem and resolution please send them on. Here's what I know so far. The error codes are only cylinders 1-3. The error codes are easily repeatable after resetting. The car smells like it's running rich when pulled into the garage. Additional data from the shop is that the brain is reporting both lean and rich conditions. There are no vacuum leaks. If I follow a logical path (uh-oh) seems the problem can't be systematic since the error is only (for now?) on cylinders 1-3. This would seem to point to injectors (reacting too slow so lean or rich), valve timing (opening or closing too soon), or exhaust (some undetectable crack or bad seal). What else? If anyone is interested please contact me off list. The car is in San Antonio TX. Thanks, Jerry girolamous@yahoo.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam?
