Dealers almost never do this work themselves; they have a mobile glass guy come in and do the replacement, mark it up and charge you accordingly. Go directly to a reputable local glass shop and cut out the middleman. Don't assume that a BMW windscreen is the best option. Two years ago I went through three of them before finding one that wasn't full of waves and variations. PPG is a good quality windshield. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com

(kinda long and venting) Raza, I agree with you that misshifting is due to improper shifting technique. Regarding your statement about the BMW shifter being the best in smoothness and precision...take a Miata for a test drive and compare the shifter action and feel to your E36 M3. -rb 1995 M3 1998 Miata Date: Fri, 6 May 2005 17:45:46 -0700 From: Raza Uddin <raza.uddin@gmail.com> Subject: Re: [E36M3] Shifters ... what's best? (kinda long and venting) I'm of the following that believe that the money shift is about a 99.9% preventable occurrence as long as you use proper shifting technique. <snip> As far as the BMW gearbox being a bad design, I disagree. Among the numerous manual cars I've driven including S2000s, NSXs, Porsche 911s, Nissan 300zx TTs, Supra TTs, none can match the smoothness and precision of a properly maintained or serviced BMW shifter. Every other shifter is either balky, notchy, completely vague or require way too much effort to put into gear; it is always a pleasure to drive a BMW spec gearbox. I take the idea of a remote shifter as a big plus as it isolates much of the vibration and noise associated with a direct lever gearbox. <snip>

#11. Cage installations? - from Mount, Mike

Date: Wed, 11 May 2005 07:55:19 -0700 From: "Mount, Mike" <JMMn@pge.com> Subject: Cage installations? Greetings all. Anyone got some pointers on roll cages for an e36m3? Usual questions like; where to go, material type, differences in cages, which ones are legal for BMW-CCA racing and if there is a difference in rules between classes of CCA racing, etc etc. Off line is okay for a response, right now I'm considering putting 4 wheels (me and my baby) instead of 2 back on the track.
